Internal body vibrations all night
My entire body started vibrating internally 3 months ago (Feb 2024) at night. I take 300-600 mg gabapentin each night and it helps some. I’ve been blessed with incredible health my entire life, although I have had some neck problems (stenosis) recently, starting in Dec 2023; two TFESIs made it better. I am 59 yo and recent Air Force retire. I am fairly certain I don’t have any underlying conditions (diabetes, autoimmune, HIV, Lyme, etc). Rheumatologist doesn’t think I have autoimmune; getting a second opinion soon. Neurologist “can’t rule out SFN” so I just gave blood and have a nerve conduction test scheduled.
Q: Anybody have similar experience with internal vibrations all night long?
Sometimes I can feel them somewhat during day. If so, please share your experience.

Yes!I just have to find a Rhuematologist or specialists that will look into seronegative I was looking at Sjogrens because of my extremely dry painful eyes and constant dry cough that came on with all my symptoms.I had no idea Sjogrens could cause walking problems.I thought that was just dry eyes and dry mouth.I think I have more than one thing going on unfortunately.
I have Sjogren’s—sort of. I’m Ro-SSA positive but don’t have very dry eyes/mouth. So I’m kind of the inverse of you. Sjogren’s can be associated with myelitis, more so than lupus. It is even more commonly associated with peripheral neuropathies. Any of these neuro complications can cause difficulty walking. Believe me, I know—unfortunately.
I hope NIH can help. You’re definitely seeing the best of the best.
i get that at night in my stomach, and sometimes my feet. I take meclizine for it and it stops. Sometimes this happens during the day too. Strange feeling!
What medicine.
I have had something similar but only on my right stroke-affected side. No definitive answers. Just medications and suggested PT.
I feel your frustration. I have had my vibrations for 6 months, and am in the black hole of medical apathy. I feel like a human petrie dish. Also am experiencing numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Stopped taking meds as it was just a “might as well” prescription process that produced more problems ( brain fog, dizziness, extreme tiredness) than I wanted to take on. Sick of the blank stare when I go to another “specialist” when I describe these night vibrations.
I even made a phone appointment with the Mayo Clinic (our chat room host), and the person I talked with said she had never heard of this, and could not find reference to it in their data base.
Woke up this morning in tears because the vibrations wake me every night just when I go into deep sleep, and persist until I am pretty much awake. When I get up, I feel beaten up from the inside. Made an appointment with a neurologist, but the soonest available appointment is in 6 months. Beginning to think that this is to be my life.
What in the world is going on with health care in this country?
I got tremor 3 months into long covid. It was internal, not visible. They worsened from being just at night and just along my spine to being full body all the time. I finally saw a neurologist who prescribed 100 mg Gabapentin 2 x a day - to quiet a Neurological system that was "whipped up". It took two days to eliminate the vibrations by 99% . So grateful. It was uncomfortable and terrifying and doctor after doctor wouldn't address it. Tremor or vibrations or buzzing is now in the list of common long covid symptoms compiled by Yale.
Hello,
I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing and I hope you’ll find something that will help.
I was diagnosed and confirmed with axonal large fiber peripheral neuropathy February of this year. It’s absolutely progressing and there’s no cure for it but hit and miss treatments to slow it down if we find the right one. I have burning, tingling, numbness and pain.
During the night, all hell breaks loose as if I am a different person than the day. However, I’ve also had essential tremors for some years now and when I have sudden things occurring because of peripheral neuropathy, I notice that the tremors become quite pronounced. Have you ever been tested for tremors? I’m just wondering.
I wish you the best.
Take care and have a serene weekend,

I am 54 yrs old and have all kinds of problems since covid and was always healthy up until then.I have COPD now and have had blood clots.Just got diagnosed type 2 diabetic and now I have the vibrations in my legs and feet. When first started I was laying in bed and thought my bed was vibrating like a cell phone. Now I can feel when sitting , walking all the time .Sometimes it can put me to sleep, and sometimes keeps me up .My Dr. Just put me on low dose of gabapentin but didn't help so she up it to 300 mg and still hasn't helped so calling next week to let her know so she can increase again. The feeling Is crazy, just hope I can get dosage right to where I don't feel it anymore.
Hello,
I’m so sorry about what you’re going through.
I would like to suggest being very careful with Gabapentin.
I wish you the best.
Take care and have a serene rest of your week,
