I'd try 2.5 mg of regular melatonin, not time release version, and see how that does. Many time I see recommendations of 1 mg to 3 mg of regular melatonin as a sleep aid. You were just taking too much, I think. I'm not a doctor, just making an informed suggestion.

Thanks, since my practitioner recommended time release, that is what i purchased. However 5 mg was the lowest does i could find. I wil, try the lower dose of regular melatonin and see if that helps.

I see a sleep therapist and both she and sleep medicine doctor say 1-3 mg a night.

I take 10 mg of time release melatonin a night and have had no bad reactions—and I have an inner ear problem because I had sudden hearing loss (SHL) at age 22. But my sleep problem (waking at 3 or 4 am and not being able to get back to sleep) has only been solved successfully with Delta 8 CBD tincture made by SunMed. It works for a year then you need to detox from it for three months. Those three months were terrible for me, but I power through knowing that sleep is coming after 90 days!
