I have no one except a husband that thinks Mother nature will cure this cancer. Wish I could get him into somebody to explain what is going on with my body & mine. And now the local chemo treatment center wants me to be at their site from 8 a m to 4 pm. for 2 drugs administration They are looking for money as when I was to have a port placed hospital near said that will take 6 hours Mayo said 2 hours & in reality it took 45 minutes This local hospital is like punching in as soon as you enter the door they start a clock & charge you for ever minute you are in their facility Told them not that length is not possible they are not flexible and bully stated if you want you treatment this is how it is going to be done. Their attitude was this is how we are going to play this game. I should show up at their facility fresh from being out in the barn with dirt feces and aroma smell for 8 hours I am sure they would love that So I guess I am done with any further treatments Now I just need to rip this itchy port out No that is how I am now being dumped on

I didn't have this problem at Mayo-Rochester myself. I've had some times where there are emergency situations and sometimes where they get behind so waiting does happen. I had one time where they had a clerical error and they forgot about me, but that was for other than cancer. There does seem to be a lot of "hurry up and wait", hence the large waiting rooms. That can be a be a bit unnerving at first.

I went through my surgery and port add during when COVID was running hot, so patient load may have made a difference. Mayo also allows time between scheduled appointments for food/snacks/meals/rest and walking to different buildings on their huge campus.

I have no idea how their infusion center works in Rochester - I had my infusion at Mayo Clinic in Red Wing - again during COVID so patient load wasn't overloaded at the time, however Mayo recently moved some non-cancer infusion work to Cannon Falls due to overwhelming demand. That maybe (or may not be) the case for Rochester.

While Red Wing was slightly farther away than Rochester for me, it was far easier to navigate - from free parking, to less walking, to lack of a crowd. They were wonderful there.

Last, it's most unfortunate (sad) that you're going through this alone. I have no answers for that.

Good luck with your navigation and treatment.
