I know exactly how you feel! My pain pump was supposed to be the solution to my reoccurring pain. 87% said to have good to excellent pain mitigation. Looks like I am unlucky to be in the lower 15% who get little to no pain relief. Yes, I also get depressed at times. My pain level has increased over the past two to three months. It is currently a constant seven to eight. Lying down on the bed used to be my "refuge" from pain, but, no more. However, as you mentioned. it could be worse. My prayers and the the prayers of many brothers and sisters seem to go up and evaporate. Very discouraging. I not only am not able to do most of the things that I used to do, but the pain makes it very difficult to find joy in much of anything. Not how I envisioned retirement.
