Congratulations on the transplant, Bev…though for the next week or so you may not think it was the best idea. ☺️ The first couple of weeks, until your new cells engraft, are usually the roughest. Especially as your blood numbers drop. You’ll hit a low point right before engraftment. When that happens and the WBCs start recharging, you’ll begin feeling so much better and the mouth sores magically disappear. Just a warning that they can get pretty nasty. If that happens don’t hesitate to tell the doctor/nurses on your team. They’ll move mountains to help you cope with that!
Ah, I remember all those infusions well. Lots of butt time in the Clinic while that happens. One thing you might want to consider in a few weeks or whenever you switch from the mag infusions to oral, if interested, check to see if you can take Magnesium Glycinate instead of the Mag Citrate that’s prescribed. It’s MUCH kinder on the gut! Not sure who your team pharmacist is, but Gabe cleared the Pure Encapsulation Mag Glycinate that I had asked him about. Ordered from Amazon. Five years later and I’m still taking them by choice.
Thanks for sharing your good experience at the Cornerstone Plaza Extended Stay. Nice to hear that’s working out and the shuttle is so convenient!
When you’re feeling better, if you’d like to share your transplant story, I posted a discussion a few years ago where several of us have kept the conversation going. Would love to have you join in! No pressure because I know these first few weeks are all about rest and binging on Netflix. Haha
