Mayo clinic confirmed adenocarcinoma from sample taken in January 2024 during ERCP near ampulla. Still waiting for Mayo on sample taken in April 2024 during EUS on common bile duct. What are next steps like additional testing on cancer type and grade? What oncology specialty to coordinate treatment plan?

Hi @qq1, here’s more information from Mayo Clinic about diagnostic testing for ampullary cancer
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ampullary-cancer/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20446378
“ Ampullary cancer treatment often starts with surgery to remove the cancer. Other treatments may include chemotherapy and radiation. These other treatments can be done before or after surgery. The best treatment for your ampullary cancer depends on several factors. These include the size of the cancer, your overall health and your preferences.”

Departments that treat this condition at Mayo Clinic include:
Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery
Oncology (Medical)
Proton Beam Therapy Program
Radiation Oncology
