Frequent UTI
I have experienced urinary track infections all my life but since 2011 they are more frequent. I went into the hospital in 2011 and 2014 but still get infections almost monthly. I have tried catherizing by one doctors recommendation and my new urologist says to catherize only once per day. Because he felt that the cathing causes the more frequent UTI's. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can reduce my UTI's

@jmaa the ? was for safetyshield but as I read back thru the thread I think I found how he learned about D-M! I too have had the same thought about the docs not telling patients about non pharmaceutical remedies that are good. I will say that I have had doctors look up or ask me for more info on things I tell them about. I did google D-mannose and there is a wide variation in prices.
I BOUGHT ON LINE a 8.8oz powered bag that says 1tablespoon but this will only last 16 days can you advice me on a brand that is larger. The one I got also costs 28.00 a bag.
Has any one heard of Hops as a UTI prevention I read about it in a book of Natures Remedies for a Healthier Life
I learned about it through this sight
If it's the BulkSupplements.com with the red guy, 8.82 oz., it's 1 TEAspoon daily and mine lasts about 1 1/2 months. I read the package and it is confusing--hope this helps.
I will look again but I was sure it was tblspoon
You are right I looked at the label again and it did say teaspoon I'm glad I looked again
Google (or any search engine) D-mannose and many sites will come up with a wide range of prices. I think that after a few months without a UTI you will be able to reduce the amount you take per day.and only increase it if you feel an infection starting. My husband also takes cranberry capsules daily and between the two has not had a UTI for over a year.
