Hearing problem after a youth hockey game

Posted by sadman @sadman, May 2 10:12pm

I was cheering for my kid in a youth hockey game with my partner. Afterward, my partner developed a hearing problem. My partner complained about hearing echo, and hard of hearing. I am afraid that I caused my partner's hearing problem because I was cheering for my kid, just with my voice. My partner is waiting for an ENT appointment in 3 months. I feel terrible. I can't believe I would hurt my partner's hearing this way. Just want to share. Don't really know what to do.

Your partner might be experiencing sudden sensory-neural hearing loss and, if so, needs to see a doctor ASAP. It might be able to be reversed if treated asap with steroids. I wouldn't wait.

Don't feel bad! You didn't mean to inflict harm. Best of luck!
