Does Anyone Have A Constant Buzzing Sound In Your Ears?

Posted by willie23 @willie23, Feb 4, 2023

My wife wanted me to ask the group if anyone has or ever had a constant buzzing sound in your ears? She is 71 and has worn hearing aids for several years. However, the buzzing sound was there long before she started wearing hearing aids. Has anyone ever experienced this sound and if so, any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Thank you for any help that you can offer her...Bill

@lacy2 Thanks for sharing I thought I was an oddball hearing things! I have moderate hearing loss in my left ear , severe tinnitus in both ears and recently started hearing a random musical note in my right ear. I took an air last to my left ear about 27 years ago , the ER doctor never tested anything just said it was ok . I’ve had the tinnitus in the left ear since and about 5 years in the right. The blast was strong enough to blow my glasses across the floor and cut my earlobe. I’m going next week to pick up hearing aids, hoping to drown out the daytime tinnitus and maybe it will help at bedtime. I’ve used sleep mask with low music playing in the past.

I got the hearing aids still needs some fine running but has definitely helped the Tinnitus. I also was having trouble with my ears turning bright red and burning and itching ( burning ear syndrome)after asking 5 doctors and being told it’s so new there’s not even a medical code . Finally the Rheumatologist said if the whole ear is red it’s from the Sojourn’s . I can’t recall what just the ear lobe was

This sound is tinnitus. It cannot be heard externally by anyone else as it is the mind's perception of sound. I have had it in both ears for decades. You can't get rid of it, unfortunately as there's no cure. My way of dealing with it is to keep busy. Others listen to music, white noise, radio in background etc. Some do therapy. For me it's annoying, not life ruining, so I just cope. Your wife might want to look up sites specific to tinnitus.

Yes I have it always. My husband is very much into music constantly fine tuning his system and buying up grades…his interest has become more intense in the past two years. My hearing issues began 17 years ago. Ive been wearing aids for about 9 years. My husband cannot understand why my hearing aids don’t solve my problems and my lack of interest in listening to music other than now and then. He’s nice about it but just doesn't understand.

Have you tried like 1000 mg of taurine and/or 5 mg of melatonin to see if your tinnitus is helped at all? I find they are helpful. Nothing gets rid of it altogether as we well know.
