Where to buy authentic Acapella?
The green Acapella I ordered from Carewell was a dark green plastic that didnt open (so couldnt be cleaned properly) - the company was nice enough to refund my money. The 'real' Acapella is bright green w 3 ribs on the side to open it. I see it on Amazon, but it says it cant be delivered to my location (Southern California). Has anyone recently ordered a 'authentic' Acapella online, one that hinges open as it should?

@jsblair When I used the Acapella Choice Green I remember it was always a hassle to find/get. If lucky and on the right day my pulmonologist's office would have one, which was infrequent. I guess you could track down the maker/manufacturer and inquire via web form.
Once I tried the aerobika with nebulizer I made the switch to it. Easier to find and I think it's effective.

3 ReactionsThe "authentic" Acapella is made by Smith's Medical so that is how I would search. That brought up a number of them available through mail order medical suppliers. If I have a question aboutany product, these folks are usually very happy to answer through email or a phone call.

2 ReactionsThe Acapella DH is green but does not open for cleaning. So using the sterilization instructions, it must be submerged in the liquid (e.g., alcohol) used for sterilization and so it uses a lot of product! The Acapella Choice is also green (but a darker shade), comes apart for cleaning and sterilization, and has more options in this regard (e.g., can be autoclaved, so presumable a baby bottle sterilizer would work as well). I had an Acapella Duet (also comes apart and can withstand multiple methods of sterilization) but it was expensive, very difficult to open, and developed stress fractures in the plastic in less than 2 months! I have been happily using the Aerobika ever since, easy to clean, and I sterilize it daily in a baby bottle sterilizer.

1 ReactionHi, I had the same thing happen. The Acapella my doctor ordered couldn't be opened, so I ordered from Amazon. Paid for it myself. It is almost a bright Christmas green and easy to open and clean. Good luck.

1 ReactionNow seeing a note I made about the acapella in 2022. Smith Medical told me that the blue acapella choice (#27-8000) replaced the green acapella choice (#27-7000). The blue one seems studier than the green one, and the flow settings are easier to read.
