I take it only if my systolic BP is over 140. It gives me swollen legs. I take metoprolol tartrate only if my heart rate is over 60. If systolic is in the lower 120's or lower I don't take anything. I check my blood pressure religiously.

so, you can go on it intermittently? My big concern about taking it at this point s that I have a bunch of testing coming up and I do not want to mask what's really going on. I went to emergency for the 2nd time last night due to insane systolic numbers and I was told I am a very healthy person, so there is an underlying issue and they have to get to the root of what is causing the blood pressure spikes. I fear that I will be masking the real root of the problem if I take drugs before they determine what's going on.
