Surgical scar after vitrectomy
I have a wavy line in my eye after vitrectomy. The doctor said it was were he had to cut away something. He stated there is nothing that can be done to remove it. Is this true and is it common

I'm sorry to hear that you have a scar/wavy line following vitrectomy. Unfortunately, I don't have any information to offer, but, rather, a question. I am facing the same procedure for an epiretinal membrane. My presurgical symptoms include wavy lines as well as blurred and double vision. I'm wondering if you experienced the wavy lines prior to surgery or if this is a result of your surgery? Either, way, I'm sorry to hear that you are left with this lingering annoyance.
post cataract surgery I now have wavy (or as I call them) dancing words, and sometimes dancing letters in words. And I still can't be sure of numbers (and I'm an accountant) so mega problem. I wasn't told that the epiretinal membrane or macular puckers would cause this visual distortion after cataract surgery. So I see better but worse.
Was your surgery done at Mayo?
no, by a very highly referred dr in NYC, he might have surgical skill, but doesn't know how to communicate. Or maybe just dismissive of women. As a cpa my vision (it goes without saying) is VERY important. Reading I can guess the words, but with numbers I have to look 2-3 times to be sure I got the correct number on a tax return.
It’s sad. I really don’t care how skilled the doctor or surgeon is if they can’t communicate with us. I had a vitrectomy and membrane peel and my results were fantastic. I know not everyone has that same result.
Did any of your doctors bring up the longterm risk of glaucoma? I'm supposed to have vitrectomy to clear up floaters and cloudiness this summer. I don't want to swap one problem for another long-term.
