Success with Qutenza, or not?

Posted by steven120566 @steven120566, Dec 19, 2023

Hi, I have consented to an in office Qutueza treatment. I have severe neuropathic pain. Coming up day after tomorrow. So I tried the OTC capsaicin, just to see if I could handle it? I couldn't. I was SCREAMING in pain, from OTC capsaicin cream, that is only .1% cspsaicin. Trying to wash it off because I assumed I made a big mistake, just made it worse. Really, darn near killed me. The Qutenza is 80x stronger. They prescribed a topical lidocaine anesthhetic from pharmacy that I am supposed to apply an hour before my appt, which I didn't have when I used the otc stuff. Honestly I am scared to death of what that Qutenza is going to do to me, but at the same time, hopeful that it will help in the long run. I'd certainly welcome anybody's experience with Qutenza, and thank you so much in advance!

I tried Qutenza. It comes with 4 doses, 1 treatment every 3 months. I only got moderate relief for 3 or 4 weeks. I didn't renew my prescription. It was not worth the cost.

How was it administered? Did your doctor have a lot of experience with the product? I have both CRPS and SFN. Do you have both? Just wondering if it might affect one dx more than the other. Thanks for comments.
