@franco I hope your Dr. appointment goes well and you get some answers and solutions to the side effects problems you are having.
I will try to answer your questions. I’m 67 years old. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 18 and started insulin. Over the years after that I got married, had 2 high risk pregnancies but got 2 beautiful daughters. I developed complications of diabetes: neuropathy (peripheral & autonomic), retinopathy and mild kidney disease. When I was 48 I had a pancreas transplant. I was not “cured” of diabetes but the complications were improved and the diabetes was stabilized. It had a very good run for 11 years. I think the transplant started to wear out! My complications started to return and worsen. The kidney problems advanced to chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 4. I see endocrinology quarterly. My doctor and a nurse practitioner alternate seeing me. I am on a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device and an insulin delivery system device (insulin pump). The same thing happens with nephrology, quarterly visits to the doctor or nurse practitioner. They have me on 2 blood pressure medicines and a diuretic. I also take a statin for cholesterol and immune suppression to prevent rejection of the transplant. I have an injection every 6 months for osteoporosis. The providers have also recommended over the counter (OTC) vitamins, minerals and antacids depending on my labs.
It all seems like a lot at times but I try to be grateful to be here. I am a Christian believer and try to remember that God has a purpose for me. I try to cooperate.
