Osteoporosis and Forteo (teriparatide): What to hear experiences
Wanting to hear people’s experience with using Forteo generally , good and bad. Concerned about having to travel and keeping it at the 36-46F range. Also would like to hear from those that used it 15-20 years ago and if any medical issues have come about that are related to Forteo.

@janflute. What were the unpleasant side effects that went away? I’m on day 11 of teriparatide and at first it was going very well. Now I’m experiencing extreme fatigue in the middle of the day and heart palpitations at various times throughout the day. Just wondering if they will go away or if I should be concerned.
Standard length is two years. For most people bone density does not increase after two years. Bone density keeps growing normally for 18 months. Please buy the book Good Bones and read the disclosure for Forteo that you can find on the internet.
My side affects are minor.
I also was concerned about travel. My insurance company will not cover Tymlos, which is similar to Forteo but does not require refrigeration. I get my Forteo by mail in a box with two blue ice packs and lots of foam. The ice packs are still mostly hard on arrival. So, using the ice packs, the box and the foam should keep your Forteo for two days of travel. The box is a one foot cube so travel by plane, train or bus will be awkward. Ask about Tymlos. Tymlos is a more recent product, which makes it somewhat riskier. The book Good Bones compares the two drugs.
Hi @rogerscott8562 here is a link for the thread discussing FORTEO storage during travel:

Recently I bought another device from Amazon. It’s like a hand held refrigerator (cylinder shape, nor big at all) with a usb plug. If there is any electricity source, you can plug in and keep FORTEO cold. The lid also display the internal temp for ease of mind.
Tymlos also comes in a big box with styrofoam cooler and cold packs and ice packs. I kept mine refrigerated because I didn't do full dose so I needed the pens to last past 30 days. When I traveled I wrapped the box in a hand towel and put cold packs on either side, in a cooler.
Felt tired and sick to my stomach briefly. Went away soon, and was back to feeling normal in less than two weeks.I love Forteo and would stay on it forever if I could.
The mentioned book is “Great Bones”, by Keith McCormick
Hopefully my fatigue will go away soon then!!!
I use that same container when I travel with my serum tears. It’s very effective
There are power bank batteries approved by tsa available on Amazon. So literally we can 1) plug in to outlets in the car, on the plane or anywhere where there is an electricity outlet.. 2) use the power bank! if no outlets available; 3) use the bio gel included without power sources. This literally solves storage problem during many travel conditions. It easily fits into my backpack style purse 👍
