going on 6 years from operation and still have swelling and pain. I do more biking than walking and that helps with pain. IF i had know i would never have had the operation. Second knee i did stem cells and i am happy with the results.
The cause is unknown. Surgeon had no idea of what to do, so i put up with it, ice is what i do. I use no pain pills.

@cobweb I had a friend who put up with a serious amount of pain for two years, until she got a second opinion. The new doctor found the problem and fixed it, and now she is so much better. Have you tried getting the opinion of a different orthopedic surgeon? It is possible that someone else may be able to find the problem. No one should have to put with that much pain for so long after a TKR.
