After knee replacement surgery
Had left knee replaced 9 days ago. Right knee two years ago. Having a problem with inflammation so hard to bend knee and exercise. Trying to ice and raise knee above heart. Doctor suggested getting compression hose. Anybody have this experience and can offer suggestions. So tired all the time from pain interrupting my sleep and painkillers. My insurance refused to pay for the painkiller recommended by surgeon so have to take one with more opiates. That's frustrating. Two years ago it was covered but now too expensive for me to use. Seems the drug companies, not our doctors are determining what we use.

Icing the metal does not work for me. Water P/T makes my knee swell. Ice on stem cell knee works. If i could do it over tkr would not have happened, but i have no time machine/
@sorry to hear that
I have been wondering about the kneeling thing ....is that normal not to be able to kneel after a new knee? Beryl
I don’t know but I definitely can’t do it. Nobody told me this beforehand.
Thanks for doing this! When I asked about it I was told that it took time to heal and that the swelling may not go away. My copay is expensive to see them so I haven’t been back after my required visits.
I hate to hear that others have this too but I’m comforted to know I’m not crazy! I get the swelling too. Wish someone had told me about the kneeling beforehand.
Thanks. I have great flexibility with mine as I really pushed through the pain during PT after surgery. The thought of them having to go back in petrified me! Nothing works with the kneeling, once or twice a thick pillow worked but not usually. It’s a tough major surgery but I’m glad I had it done as my pain before was unbearable.
@beryl I can kneel as long it is on a cushion or on carpet.

I too do this, use a cushion as my knees are not good and I haven't had the replacement ....just painful with PMR......it seems it must depend on the individual after knee replacement whether you can kneel or not......thank you for answering my question ...Beryl
My pain level after the TKR was bad. Why i was disappointed was i went into the surgery super strong. Worked out and had my legs very strong. Flexibility came slowly and the loud noises came from me as they pulled the knee back. The swelling has never returned to normal after 5 years. I find biking does the best exercise for me. Water therapy did not work, so i now know there is nothing to do but put up with it. I don't take pain pills because so many pills like aleve and ibuprofin kill off stem cells. I do bike 10 miles a day but whe cold weather hits its off to the fitness facility. Good luck to all who had this problem. No one ever told me about the downside. all i heard was how happy i would be. oh well, it is what it is.
