After knee replacement surgery
Had left knee replaced 9 days ago. Right knee two years ago. Having a problem with inflammation so hard to bend knee and exercise. Trying to ice and raise knee above heart. Doctor suggested getting compression hose. Anybody have this experience and can offer suggestions. So tired all the time from pain interrupting my sleep and painkillers. My insurance refused to pay for the painkiller recommended by surgeon so have to take one with more opiates. That's frustrating. Two years ago it was covered but now too expensive for me to use. Seems the drug companies, not our doctors are determining what we use.

When you are able to use supp hose, bff's dr. told her to put under pillow at nite. then in morn, do not get out of bed, put hose on then allow feet on floor. Guess it does not allow blood to go to feet? they r supposed to come in great colors now?
I am 5 days post op and the swelling hinders my pt work. Wearing compression socks, icing, etc., all have not helped. Stopped taking pain meds due to constant nausea.
Why dont you take your pain meds with food to see if theres no nausea ❤️
@kmart 5 days post-op is really soon to have returned to work. I agree with @flor though, try taking the pills with food. I had no problem with them after my TKR but I have in the past.

Hi, I’m new to this group so forgive me if this has already been discussed. I’ve had both of my knees replaced within the past 3 years. I recovered remarkably well. I have not however been able to kneel down on either of my knees without excruciating pain! Has anyone else experienced this? To me, it feels like kneeling on shards of broken glass.

Hoping you can meet members like @contentandwell @beatricefay @kmart @brendadepalma and @nancylh, who may have some thoughts for you on not being able to kneel without excruciating pain.
Has your doctor weighed in on why he/she might think it feels like you are kneeling on shards of broken glass?
@lisalucier @kdo0827 I have had both knees replaced also, the last one was in October 2017. It hurts to kneel but not as excruciating as you describe. I was in pain for longer than anticipated so my ortho was seeing me frequently until the pain subsided. It was at about 6 weeks when it finally started calming down. It still hurts when I do certain things, and I still have not gotten the flex I want in it, so I am working hard on that.
Obviously, when you kneel put a cushion under your knee. I do not kneel in church, that would hurt too much.

1 ReactionAfter months of multiple xrays and a bone scan the doctor determined there is a lack of blood flow to the patella and it is dying / calcifiing in addition to having shifted. It may heal it self, continue to die or worse case crumble. If it is the later then it will need to be replaced. Thankfully there is no infection. Doctor says my wife may have to live with the minor pain, 3 on a scale of 10. Hoping someone else may have similar occurrence and see what they were given as next steps.

i have many friends with tkr and no one kneels. To painful. after 5 years my knee is swollen enough without trying to knell.
@cobweb use ice on your knee for swelling ,this makes it hurt more the swelling
