3 Month post SBRT PSA

Posted by toolbelt @toolbelt, Mar 28 9:35am

Hey all. Just got my PSA and testosterone three months post SBRT and in month 4 of Orgovyx.

PSA is 0.09 ng/ml down from 7.8

Testosterone is 14.25 ng/dL

Just had the blood draw 2 hours ago and results were pushed to my portal. Meet with my RO in 10 days.....I am THRILLED with the results!

@toolbelt

I started Orgovyx 9 days before my first SBRT. At that point my T was already down from 517 to 27.

I tolerated SBRT with very few problems. I was a little tired after the first fraction but I think that was more "emotion based" rather than actual treatment based. I had no side effects during the 5 SBRT fractions. I had a Barrigel spacer placed. I had some scant blood and mucous during bowels movements for three days after my final treatment, but that totally resolved within 5 days....to the point I went on a two week SCUBA trip in Honduras 2 weeks after my final SBRT. The only side effect with Orgovyx is mild hot flashes...about two per night. I purposely lost 8 pounds prior to starting Org and have kept it off. I hit the gym hard three days a week for two hours at a crack, I walk 18 holes of golf twice a week, I am watching calories, sugar and portions. My latest blood test did show a ____slight____increase in glucose and LDL. Those are known possible side effects of Org.
I am telling you Brother....if you get along as well as I have with SBRT and Org then we BOTH are truly, truly fortunate.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Stay Strong Brother.

toolbelt,
I started Orgovyx from a sample boottle City of Hope gave me. MY RO is at UCLA and they say my insurance may not cover Orgovyx because I don't have metastatic cancer. Is that true? Or, it depends on the insurance I have.
I have a heart condition and I read Orgovyx has less impact on heart compared to Lupron.
Any advice? Also when does the side effects start after starting Orgovyx? So far after 2 days no side effects!

I am on Medicare supplement with Part D, and while it needed to be preauthorized I did not sense any problems with its approval. I do not think metastasis need be present.
I too have read O has less cardiac toxicity particularly with cardio-comorbidities.
I start month 5 of 6 on Friday. My main side effect are a couple hot flashes a night that wake me up, but I am able to get back to sleep...no big deal. That started day 41. I have no libido....it is what it is. I have been hitting the gym for 2 hours three days a week, walking 18 holes of golf twice a week, and watching my calories and sugar intake. I My recent blood test showed a ___slight__ increase in cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose. The increase is small enough to be inconsequential.
If you tolerate O as well as I do then you got this!

Stay Strong Brother!

@mammoth3414, just wanted to pop in to say welcome. Your experience and timeline is helpful. Given that you've already had SBRT, you're probably well prepared for what to expect this time around too. How many sessions will you have? Daily?

SBRT is usually confined to 5 treatments over 2 weeks
It is given for when results from Psma show 5 or less lesions.
