What is Lunency on knee X-ray?

My knee X-ray, 1 year post op shows “Luncency “ along posterior femur. Significance of this?
Still having some swelling and quad muscle issues and stiffness. Bending to only 115 degrees.

Hello @denamarie - this is a good question. This article may help as it discusses radiolucency, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6583264/. It looks as though radiolucency is a term that describes "For quantification, the sum of the width of the radiolucent lines in each of the zones (in mm) gives a total score that, in the case of the tibia, is insignificant unless it is >4; regular follow‐up is recommended if it is 5–9 and >10 predicts impending failure. A stable line less than 2 mm is insignificant if it appears within a year and stabilizes therefter15."

Have you discussed this finding with your surgeon as a possible connection to your continued swelling and stiffness issues? Has scar tissue been ruled out as a potential barrier?
