I tried his supplement for restoring gut health (weighed 420lbs diagnosed with gastritis) and passed a foot long hardened piece of stool that appearantly had been stuck, (not responding to prunes, raisins, apples, miralax, senna, ….
Now weigh 376

I like the holistic perspective. Science always evolves with new info so why not check new ideas? Believing the earth is not the center of the universe isn't punishable any more and who gives children pine tar + sugar colds?
I have both MD's and ND's since the 1980's and use the best of both. One idea Dr Gundry talks about is the nightshade family. Having a malformed leg from a 1972 near fatal auto accident I pondered my joint aches as I aged. My leg joints hurt too much but no way did I want meds. In 2007 I adapted the no nightshade diet and still continue. Animal researcher Dr Childers who watched cows develop arthritis after eating nightshade plants almost every time was an inspiration.
For humans I quit potatoes, tomatoes, hot and regular peppers, eggplant, paprika and never have used tobacco. My results were great with reduced pain and little evidence of arthritis. Lots of people I knew who tried it had great reviews too. Hells bells do your own tests if it works for you great if not even medication isn't always good for all of us plus often has side effects. My favorite was a guy who was terminal but had quite smoking and ate lots of spaghetti and other nightshades. He wanted to have less pain. I shared about the nightshade family, he tired it and two weeks later he said he hadn't felt so good in eight years. Later his sister who he lived with, sent a thank you to me for helping him have less pain at the end of his life. Good luck 70 something with no medication @farmersmith

There is nothing wrong with nightshades. Read what Dr. Andrew Weil says. They were originally shunned because supposed witches used them.

Personal experience. First not all people are sensitive to all the same things: Biochemical individuality.
- I was in near fatal auto accident 1972 lingering painful leg issues
- Past athlete in HS so wanted to get back into shape after years of recovery - ran 5 mi for year - pure painful torcher
- Switched to walking - continued pain in joints especially bad accident legs
- Heard of no nightshade diet read about animal studies in early 2010's
- Partner and I did suggested three weeks no nightshade diet - amazing how many foods are riddled with potatoes, tomatoes, hot peppers, regular peppers, egg plant, paprika and we didn't smoke tobacco.
- Results amazing it was worth it to us to adapt to no nightshade diet
- Creative recipes: pumpkin puree for tomato sauce, ginger and horse radish for peppers, etc.
Three no nightshade tales (many more I can tell):
- My optometrist and friend had very bad arthritis so I told her my story. Being an MD she wondered about the science but went off the nightshade anyway with great results (you have to check labels its in lots of things - potatoes in bread!?!?) She went to an optometrist continued Ed. event. Lunch was served, with speaker, she paid little attention to what she ate. It was riddled with all kinds of nightshade. Next day she awoke with great joint and arthritis pain. For her no nightshade diet is her choice. To this day still on it!
- Years after I had gone faithfully off the nightshades, my sister served a meal full of nightshade. I threw up my hands and ate with abandon, what the heck. Same thing, the next day I ached in places I hadn't for years.
- Since I used to do bodywork, I saw clients who spoke about their love of tomatoes and potatoes etc., while telling about their joint aches. One client who was terminal wanted to have freedom from pain. He told of loving spaghetti and that he had stopped smoking. I explained to him what had helped me and that it was my own experience not part of the bodywork. He went off the foods, came back two weeks later and said, "I have not felt this good for over seven years." Some time went by and I got a message from his sister with whom he lived in his last days, "He died but thank you very much for making my brother's latter days so much more comfortable."
I respect both regular MD's and a variety of holistic doctors. But a couple quotes in my early studies stuck with me: Biochemical individuality and you may have an imbalance of nutrients, vitamins and minerals but you will never be deficient in aspirin.

Three weeks without the nightshade family and if you don't feel any change and still have arthritic symptoms keep eating the nightshade. If you do have pain relief go on the no nightshade diet for three months. Then choose the way you want to feel. Personally I am so glad for the huge amount of relief I have been able to count on for many years without being dependent on medication.

So sorry for your problems. Arthritis is inflammation, not a food allergy.

I have had and studied food intolerances for 45 years, and mine have nothing to do with arthritis. Typically, they affect the GI tract.

There really is no reason for this kind of thing here. I certainly don't need it. Now, I am off here. Sooner or later, someone tries to make trouble on these chats.

I just ordered his pills as a last ditch effort to help with my constant diarrhea. I had c-diff 12 years ago and have been a mess ever since. Nothing has helped. I’ve seen specialists and have done research and tried everything these past 12 years. I’m at my end, I’m giving up and accepting the fact that I’m going to be somewhat miserable from now on. I’ve tried so hard. For 12 years. And, his pills aren’t doing anything for me.

Well, I have been researching anything that can return my regular BM since my intestinal prolapse surgery in October and now I am becoming more than a little concerned. I also read Dr Gundry's excerpts from his book and I think he sounds like he just wants money from people. Not an expert as he calls himself. I don't know what to use anymore because nothing is really working.. Doctors have prescribe the Miralax, Lactulose, Bisacodyl, Phillips Milk of Magnesia (yuk) and other over the counter things- such a waste of money .... the list goes on... I was so desperate last week I bought one of those liquid enema apparatus kits.. but I felt it was too dangerous and that I may harm myself even further... my PCP suggested eating 2 Kiwi's Fruits and at least 64 ounces of warm lemon water per day.. Apparently Kiwi's are the new "Prunes" Yoga and different types of twisting exercises sometimes gets things moving a bit, but none of this gives me the relief that is needed to be normal. I am literally full of ___ !! Today I decided I am no longer eating because it is not being eliminated properly. I can't go on this way any longer.. Each doctor seems to be of no help. This is such a condition that is difficult and embarrassing to talk about, even to a gastrologist .. I don't know... I feel something is terrible wrong.. Please, does anyone have any have any other suggestions about what I can do this weekend? Thank you so much for any response 🙁

Have you tried Triphala. I always travel with it . It’s an ancient Ayurvedic remedy for constipation ( among other gastrointestinal issues). It’s a combination of 3 berries. Works like a charm and feels natural.

On a trip to Bhutan, a fellow traveler was backed up for at least 5 days when I learned of the problem… I offered this remedy and he declined. Two nights later his wife knocked on my door and decided something had to be done… we were to hike up Tigers Nest ( a highlight and the end of an incredible journey) the next day and he was in such pain he couldn’t go.

Well, next morning he came to breakfast able and ready for the day… thanked me profusely.

I would opt for organic version.

Good luck

No. I have constant diarrhea. I’d like to be constipated sometimes!
