It is also given in low dose for IBS patients. It has helped some friends of mine greatly.
My guess is that it boosts the Serotonin level in the brain and it effects your mood which could help with pain. Just a guess.

@covidstinks2023 I was prescribed this today but I’m on heart meds and reading up on it, I don’t feel it’s a good tablet for me to take. This is my second time of getting shingles First time was over 30 years ago. I’m at the blistering stage, where it appears to be spreading and yes very painful 😣
