Do not take gabapentin, makes it worse
I have taken gabapentin and Lyrica. I would advise you not to take either as they can sometimes make symptoms worse. Also increase anxiety if you have GAD as I do

Curious if anyone has tried medical marijuana with Gabapentin? If so, any benefit? Thanks
Nucynta is a schedule 2 opioid, same as fentynyl and morphine. I would't even consider taking it!
I would like info on this also. Two bad knees.
Gabapentin actually made mine more pronounced. I had to quit taking it. On bad days now I just use TENS and mushrooms everyday. If anyone is having a good result from any drug, I would like to hear from you.
Gaba made mine worse too. I haven't tried Lyrica
You are not in my shoes, evidently. My neuropathy pain is excruciating, it takes all the oxygen out of the room. At this point, I’m willing to try anything, thank you.
I also posted on a Reddit forum and got this interesting seemingly informed reply...

Doc here, yeah that's kind of how it is with neuropathic pain, hard to make it go away but not *too* hard to get to where it doesn't bother ya.
The cannabis literature is a disaster area but I feel we have enough efficacy and safety data to recommend it. There is not a thing in the world that helps everybody always, but cannabis helps some people a lot.
There aren't that many options for neuropathic pain. Gabapentinoids (GP and pregabalin), sodium channel blockers (oxcarbazepine and others) central alpha agonists (duloxetine, tricyclics, etc). Once you've tried a couple of those, it's either cannabis or opioids, basically; and very few docs know how to use opioids effectively here.
There's some decent data on topical CBD, that's also worth a try imo
A relative of mine is using 300 mg of Gabapentin for herniated disk back pain. She can’t have the surgery and has tried water therapy and exercises and massage and everything.
This is the so far the only thing that works.
But she has gained at least 50 lbs and is discouraged as this is all water weight.
She is just starting a diuretic but that has side effects too.
Any help or ideas???
She can’t take Lyrica.
She does not know if the diuretic will work either.
I’ve just described my experience with a new prescription for gabapentin elsewhere so I won’t repeat here, but in a nutshell, gabapentin helped me tremendously with my neuropathy. We are all different for sure!
You’re lucky Gabapentin worked for you, because it did nothing for me.
I was on 2400mg daily with no relief of my neuropathy symptoms.
