I see you are in St. Louis. So am I and I had hip replacement at Mercy by Dr Martin. Who was your doc? If you end up needing an infectious disease doc let me know. My husband has many health issues and we are familiar with MANY doctors in the Mercy system. We also have a fantastic home health company if that is needed. Sorry you have to go thru this

Did the bone scan or MRI show anything? Indolent ( slowly developing infection can cause these symptoms.
Ask for a bone scan and maybe ask for referral to an infectious disease MD specialist.

Mri CT and bone showing nothing I've asked my primary for referral and she's wanting to do another CT so it's scheduled for next week I've asked her about a neurosurgeon also

Have you been tested for an implant infection with your white blood count so high? I read it was possible to get infected years later.

I wonder if a scope wouldn’t make sense. It the infection is colonized on the apparatus itself and without blood supply, oral or IV won’t touch it.
A hip is different that a disc and I have no idea how they could gain visual access. An artificial disc is small - a hip is large. So I don’t know.

Are you getting sicker?

I've asked my dr if I should of been taking antibiotics incase it is infection he said that wouldn't take care if problem they would have to take hio out put in antibiotics straps until infection is gone then put in new hip at this point if that's what needs to be done do it but they don't want to say it's infection to do that

Well ok. But a high white blood count might be an infection and it seems logical to rule that out. I have read there are tests they can do but I not a medical professional so I’ll leave it to someone else to respond. However I don’t think an infection will get better on its own if it is that.
