Hopefully someone can enlighten this chemist as she is obviously missing/forgotting something very basic. No matter what the form of either calcium or magnesium is in when taken, it does not remain in that form once it hits stomach acid. It gets converted to calcium ions or magesium ions. How fine the powder is does affect the rate of dissolution. Tums and Milk of Magnesia also act as antacids due to their chemical nature

Interesting. I was searching for a form that doesn’t cause diarrhea. According to this I am unlikely to succeed.
