Coughing a lot after lung cancer treatment. Don't know why
I have lung cancer stage 3A . Been through the chemo and had surgery.
It's been about 5 months now. I never coughed before , yes I was a smoker for 52 years.
But I find myself coughing alot, well some days nothing other days all day.
I don't understand why
Has anyone else had this?

Maybe call the doctor
Hi Donna, @stimey60, I also had some coughing early on. Allergies are the answer in my case, and we're having a fast, early spring here in northern Alabama. The coughing comes from a postnasal drip. Are you coughing up phlegm, or is it a dry cough?
My doctor recommended Flonase in the morning and again at night. I find I only need it every so often. My wife and I have decided to splurge on a Navage, as well, as she is getting hit really hard this Spring. You have to use either distilled or boiled water with any type of nasal irrigation in order to kill the bacteria.
Targrisso is recommended for two types of EGFR mutation, Exon 19 and 21. It doesn't work against the rarer Exon 20 mutation. I've been on it for over three years now, and this is the longest I've been cancer-free since my initial diagnosis in 2018. It's good stuff! The initial side effects have mostly faded away. My fingernails still split a bit more easily, but 10mg of Biotin a day helps a lot.
I'm 63 years young and, otherwise, in good health. All the best to you and yours in your journey!
Good and bad days, normally wake up and environmental changes, gets less bothersome as TIME goes on. The ongoing Lobectomy pain is the same story. Let’s continue the positive attitude, prayers it’s all we have. 😤
Hey, @randy52957. I just wanted to pop in and say welcome. I look forward to getting to know more about your lung cancer story. What type of lung cancer did you have? Have you had any other treatment after lobectomy? How are you doing?
I had 3a, two chemo ans a right lobectomy they took about 20% of my rt lung.
I'm being seen at Rochester Mayo clinic.
I'm living my life now every three months.
I'm doing well getting ready to go Ireland. When I retired I said I wanted to see the world and that's what I am going to continue to do. This September I'm going to Egypt.
I'm going to keep living!
I have had cough since few days after surgery and I was told it's because diaphram was disturbed. Today I saw a new pulmonologist. I brought my last pet scan which it's still showing inflamation. Doctor waa surprised they didn't put me on prednisone to help clear that. In addition he said I developed asthma is now has me on a few different meds plus nebulizer.
Suggest seeing a pulmonologist. He gave my husband a several weeks course of prednisone and rx cough “pearle” pills, and rx antihistamine. He now has much less coughing post Lobectomy.
