Coughing a lot after lung cancer treatment. Don't know why

I have lung cancer stage 3A . Been through the chemo and had surgery.
It's been about 5 months now. I never coughed before , yes I was a smoker for 52 years.
But I find myself coughing alot, well some days nothing other days all day.
I don't understand why
Has anyone else had this?

Is there a certain poetical that needs to fit for this medicine? In other words what type of cancer and treatment did you have to go through. I've never heard of this medication.

When I came back with X rays showing I have Stage 4 lung cancer, the first thing she did is tell me to buy Tagrisso. I have been on it for 5 months now. My coughing has really subsided. I go back for more tests in 2 weeks.
According to AstraZenica, it was 20 years in the making and getting FDA approval.

Well apparently mine is gone with chemo and surgery. I hope it stays that way, but I doubt it. I'll have to remember that medicine. You take it once a day right?

Yes, 1 pill a day. I take mine at 7 am everyday.

Hi Donna, @stimey60, Tagrisso is effective for a certain type of cancer, known as EGFR lung cancer. Lung cancer has had many advancements in recent years, one of which was the discovery of gene mutations that drive the cancer. Some of these gene based cancers can be treated with these targeted therapy medications. They aren’t for everyone, but they are literally a life saver for some of us.

My husband is 3 months post Lobectomy and still coughing.

How long did your cough last until you felt better?

Yes I'm 5 months post . I found out alot of mine was postnatal drip and allergies. I don't know if your husband smoked or not but it also comes from quitting smoking.
Your lungs have to get use to fresh air!

Thx for your reply. He quit smoking 35+ years ago. He has always taken meds for allergies and pnd, and was given stronger meds now from pulmonologist. Coughing developed a couple of weeks post Lobectomy and has not subsided,,,,, yet.
