7% Sodium Chloride & Medicare B
My doctor sent a prescription to Rite Aid for 7% Sodium Chloride nebulizer solution, but Rite Aid is telling me that the Medicare website is down (for several weeks now) so they can't check whether my Medicare B would cover the cost. Otherwise, Rite Aid charges over $100 for the solution. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

This group is fantastic! Thanks to people like you, I'm able to have my prescription for 7% Sodium Chloride filled by Rite Aid for $10.50 (delivered for $4.99). I didn't think of asking how many vials there are, so it's "wait and see" for what will come in the delivery. Are you saying you paid $6.16 for 90 vials at CVS?
Yes. The pharmacist found another discount they had access to that beat the GoodRX price. I imagine prices vary by location, and can have specific time frames or quantities tied to them. So if worst case is the GoodRX cost, it’s still a win over the price with insurance.
And the Amazon order was a fallback, not inexpensive, when I was worried my refill wouldn’t be filled before I ran out of my supply.
Amazon is then a good idea for a fill-in. In the meantime, the 7% Sodium Chloride was delivered from Rite Aid -- 60 x 4ml dose vials, at $10.50, using GoodRx. The packaging has "Rx only" marked on it. Mainly, I hope this solution will be beneficial to me.
I was told by a pharmacy that part B will not cover 7% with Albuterol because the 2 don't get mixed together in the nebulizer to make 1 medication. I use good RX costs me $11.45 for 60 - 4 ml vials at rite aid - never had a problem using the Good RX coupon - once in their system the coupon stays and gets applied to each script I pick up without me giving them the coupon again,
That is excellent informaion - not requiring a new coupon. A big timesaver. Thank you.
Medicare Part B is for Dr visits not prescriptions. You need a prescription plan for it to cover the 7%
I get 9% sodium chloride from Amazon. Pack of 100 for 18.92. Came with first nebulizer. It is easy to order and comes to your door. I am home bound so can't get out and shop. I hope this helps someone. I also use raw Manuka Honey. This isn't honey most of us are used to and it's a bit pricey but it really brings up mucus. It may not work for everybody but certainly works for me. We must get healthier. 🙂
My pulmonologist says only use 7% sodium chloride & I do have to have a prescription. My nebulizer is from medicare.
yes, I had the nebulizer from medicare and the meds the pulmonogist gave me made me real sick. I read on here that someone used hand held nebulizer with saline solution and it has really worked for me. I'm not saying it will work for everyone. The medicare nebulizer and meds were from medicare. Good Luck.
After the saline, I use levalbuterol in nebulizer. He started me with albuterol but it made me very nervous. The levalbuterol not so much.
