Eliminating Foods for Neuropathy pain
I have tried doing without certain foods and drinks containing caffeine and have discovered it helps me to lower my neuropathy pain to a level that is tolerable. It is not easy to eliminate chocolate, tea, and coffee from my diet.

I elevate my feet several times a day and change positions constantly. Cleaning my house is PT… I stretch a lot and walk on different parts of my feet all day. But yes sleeping (even napping) are difficult.
ATP is adenosine triphosphate. ATP is the end product of a long series of cellular reactions during which food is broken down via the "Krebs cycle" (also known as the TCA or tricarboxylic acid cycle), followed by the respiratory chain (also called the electron transport chain). Unfortunately, you can't just buy and consume ATP from the grocery. I had to relearn all of this biochemistry after being told of my mutations, both of which directly impact the mitochondria, which is where the respiratory chain is located. If the respiratory chain isn't working properly, loads of free radicals, like superoxide ion, are generated, and the free radicals are highly reactive and damage nearby proteins, structures, DNA, etc. in and beyond the mitochondria. If it's any consolation, humans on average have 400 mutated genes, the vast majority of which are silent or benign. But now and then, you get a real zinger or two. May all your mutations be benign/silent!
Stay away from packaged foods with aspartame, MSG, and hidden sugar names like dextrose, sucrose, corn syrup. These preservatives reek havoc with you nervous system. Stay healthy by eating fresh fruits and vegetables and cold water fish, wild caught cod, haddock and salmon. These will help keep the inflammation down as well.
I have been drinking Dandy Blend . No caffeine but has benefits that caffeine has. For me it has been a great substitute for coffee. It’s dandelion and chicory root. I put cinnamon and coconut cream in sometimes. You can get it on Amazon. The organic is much more expensive. They have both.
Good to hear I had the American Diabetes Association tell me that caffeine would be bad for the nerves since I had neuropathy but I still haven't been able to quit coffee completely I keep trying to cut back use half cap I've tried to all kinds of things and chocolates also really hard for me I'm praying and God bless you for your post
Thank you! I’m seeing a neurosurgeon today for my second opinion on solutions for my bulging lumbar discs and arthritic spine. Have 3 more consultations scheduled. But the medical professionals rarely mention an anti inflammatory diet.
This has been a difficult life change but I feel that it could help with pain as much as surgery

Hi, all. I started as a patient at Mayo last year. I see people on here talking about pain and swelling, and using food to control those things. My neuropathy (apparently CIDP and/or microvasculitis) doesn't involve pain exactly, although I am interested in seeking anti-inflammatory foods that might help. It looks like people are talking about reducing/eliminating caffeine and carbs -- I assume that means long-chain starches and refined simple sugars, but not natural monosaccharides like glucose? Does anyone know how well-supported these results are?

Thc extract oil mixed with coconut oil has worked for myself and my partner (colon cancer survivor) to alleviate neuropathy symptoms. Note: not some wacko junk from vape shop. Regarding caffeine, I am very happy to now be drinking decaffeinated coffee, which I cannot tell any difference of from the fully caffeinated original.
