Coughing a lot after lung cancer treatment. Don't know why

@stimey60 i am stage 2b 45 years old had surgery last month. Chemo starts next week 4 cycles. I had cough for the last whole month..now reduced..had difficulty a bit in soeaking also that to reduced but not subsided yet. I have never smoked no addicton of any kind ..sports enthusiast too. They removed 2 rigth lobes via robotic.

Tell your doctor about your cough and whether it is a dry or wet cough. It can be a sign of something going on in your lungs -I had radiation-induced pneumonitis with a dry cough

No I did they checked for it
They really think it's my lungs clearing out from smoking for so long. You know I tried to quit for so many years all it took was that word cancer and I quit that day, to late but I quit

You know I've been going through this feeling sorry for myself stage, it's depression, I know it and I know your feelings help with healing. The other morning my husband had just come back from breakfast and I got out of the car and I heard the birds just singing away. I live in MN and winter here well there are no birds it pretty quiet. I had forgotten how wonderful it was to hear those birds again. Life is so short, we all take it for granted. So I'm going out every morning just to hear the birds. And enjoy life again.

I read your comment about coughing and you mentioned that you have smoked for 52 years, my question is did you quit smoking before getting cancer or were you done with smoking long before the cancer diagnosis? I was a cigarette smoker for 43 years and I finally quit, the cancer showed up 8 years later. I had a upper left lobectomy and 2 years later I had a partial lobectomy for another cancer in the lower right lung. I believe that if you recently stopped smoking before the cancer you would probably have a cough because it’s a common symptom for quitting smoking, your lungs are cleaning up the tar and nicotine in cigarettes, it’s actually a good thing and normal for ex smokers. I would mention it to the doctor if you feel it needs further investigation. I wish you good luck with your recovery and enjoy the beautiful things that life has to offer you.

No I quit after I was diagnosed. I think some of it is because I have allergies as well so the nasal drip does not help.

Glad you quit smoking. I quite some 22 years ago and know it is hard. One has to find the right moment and incentive. But smoking is also a dumb waste of money.

True but I enjoyed it.
But it was getting harder and harder to smoke out and about.
And I got tired of smelling like smoke all the time.
I still have a chew nicotine gum once in awhile and I miss it. But I'm done. No more to high a price to pay

And smoking burns little holes in your clothes! Here in Minnesota, one gets to go outside to smoke....that should be an incentive to stop but people do not!!!!
