I need help to control type 2 Diabetes

Posted by salliesallie @salliesallie, Feb 29 10:16am

Hello, I was very recently diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes by my primary care doctor. I still need more test before I see the Endocrinologist. I am anxious about living with Diabetes and the changes that will occur. Both my Father and two brothers had Diabetes. All three are no longer living. I know that I need to calm down and wait until I get instructions from the Endocrinologist. I will post again after the test.

I appreciated your advice. "Lima Bean"...I don't think so! I think I will be able to control the diabetes with diet and exercise. I have already lost a few pounds.
I now weigh 136 pounds.
God is Good!

What is a healthy AND fit body as an 80 y.o.? For me it should be able to help me do what I wish to achieve in life -- which means not only able to take care of my physical needs from carrying groceries (often 20+ lbs) from grocery store to bus to subway and then from there to bus stop to my apartment, with a few stairs up and sown. (Yes the cat litter box is 7kg=15 lbs) Ability to walk briskly for 30 minutes or more. And hoover the apartment, walk up/down in my building 10 plus floors tells me I am good enough. Never weighed, nor need to...if I get a pinch at my waist below it's less than half inch, so no Excess fat. Feeding body wholesome simple tasty foods and ensuring it's limber enough is all I care for to help me then focus on doing what matters to me in my life, aka, purpose.

I wish you a physically strong flexible body that has a mentally healthy state.

P.S. Yes I make my lovely senior cat run around and jump down from the kitchen shelf 5 times before getting his food. Too many pets in apts get little exertion.

My A1c dropped pretty quick with 2 months of mounjaro and metformin. My insurance now denies the mounjaro but using Libre 11 blood sugar monitor for a couple months helped me see what foods tend to elevate my bs. Good luck ! I have also found Jardience was helpful but I had side affects

Thank you for your positive report regarding Mounjaro. I’ll probably begin it soon to treat my T2D, and see how the side effects are.

I was on Rybelsus, a pill form of a related compound, for 9 months, and it lowered my A1c remarkably. Then the gastric distress became too much and I had to abandon it.
