Transdermal HRT

Read the book Estrogen Matters. It dispels a lot of myths with facts. Obviously, you’d likely need progesterone and testosterone. But, like a lot of things, real science was ignored. Frustrating.

Same here. I am 70 and have taken some form of HRT since early menopause at 42. I recently switched from oral to the CombiPatch, within months a slightly elevated liver enzyme dropped to normal and my cholesterol readings improved. I plan to stay on HRT for life.

It blows my mind that so much of the medical community is stuck in 2002. You must have been swimming against the tide by continuing HRTs after the highly publicized WHI study came out. I bet you're glad you did though.
It saddens me that a whole generation of post-menopausal women missed out on HRT benefits.
What was it like at the time? Did you have to fight to stay on the treatment, or was your doctor supportive?

I'm starting CombiPatch this weekend, and am glad to hear that it's been good for you. I've never had HRT treatment before. Because of the personal experiences of many of the members of this support group, I anticipated difficulty, and maybe even a battle to get a doctor to prescribe it. Fortunately, the gynecologist I went to was well up-to-date on treatment safety and efficacy. That was such a relief.

Hi @hopefullibrarian may I ask what dosage is your CombiPatch? Are you being monitored for bone markers? If so, how often? Thanks!

Hi mayblin, I'm starting on a very small dose of .05/0.14 mg per day with a plan to increase it gradually because I have epilepsy. My BTMs were tested in January, and will be done again next month. I'm also on Evenity, so it's being done primarily to monitor that. With the addition of HRT, I'm going to request it again for July. So, I guess, to answer your last question, the BTMs are being done every 3 months.

@mayblin, So far, I've had two rounds of Evenity injections, and will have my third one at the end of the month. I'm curious too about the effect the combination will have.
There's another member of the group, @kristie2, who's on Evenity and BHRT. Maybe from the results we both get, we'll all learn something. I'll definitely post about my progress, and I hope @kristie2 will too.
