What else can it be besides Inner Ear (Fluid) off setting these episodes. Once they onset the episodes can last from 2-5 Hours. Trending patterns 3 days on 2 days off since, 1/10/24.
Please I Need Helpful advice or different options. I have been to ER after hours clinic as well as my PCP.
I’ve have been prescribed to Nausea and Vertigo medications, since 1/11/24. The episodes have yet to stop. I can’t work nor comfortable driving.

I had an episode last March it lasted 4 days in hospital with vomiting and so dizzy I couldn’t open my eys. I was finally diagnosed with Labyrinthitis. Did therapy for 6?weeks to train my brain differently. It helped a little but I still feel like I’m getting off a ride almost a year later

Did the vertigo symptoms gone away?
Are you saying after a year you are fine?

The only med that really works for vertigo symptoms is Valium. It worked for 15 years.
Finally had flexion x-ray 6 views, not 4 and showed facet issues. Just had a C23 facet nerve block and then an ablation. I have not had issues for 3 months now, I am so happy we got it fixed!

I was diagnosed with vertigo and dizziness. They told me it was an ear imbalance and had me go to a vertigo therapist. After a couple of weeks I stopped as I found it useless. Out of the therapy I have had no change. I had to talk to a neurologist and all he did was test me for dementia. I did that twice. Once a year. After I did better the second time I was tested I told him I didn’t need it.
Come to find out it was determined to come from the psychiatric meds I was on. It was caused by medication. I switched to different medications but I stopped trying to “fix it “ .
That was years ago and I still am living with vertigo. It’s on my medical chart that I have vertigo and had to learn to live with it. I actually had to walk around with a cane to “catch me” from falling down. It keeps me from falling but the vertigo never left me so I’m under the impression that it would never go away.
It has left me with the inability to hear well. As a result it has left me unable to walk around without that cane . My hearing aids slipped down the stems around my ears due to the slippery stems. I haven’t worn them in over a year even though Medicare pays for them.

Talk to your doctor about a flexion x-ray of your cervical spine. 6 views, not 4. I finally am fixed by a C23 Facet nerve block and then ablation.
Valium will help significantly in the mean time

No. I’m still off. Some days are better than others but I’m not 100%

harleygz, Bless you. Vertigo is awful! I've battled it for about 15 years...off and on. My flareups are caused by sinus & migraine headaches. I take the meclizine/antivert immediately and lie down. Usually I can get relief in 3-4 days. The onset of the 1st bout of it was the worst with vomiting and the room spinning. It took it about 3 months to completely go away the first time. If I leaned over or moved my head to quickly, I would go into another spin. It was very hard. I know people that go to chiropractors and get much relief from vertigo. Stress is also a trigger for vertigo. I pray you get relief soon. I empathize and I care.

My cervical vertigo was fixed with a C23 Facet nerve block then ablation, I am so happy to not be sick anymore!
You can't see facets in your normal x-ray, it was finally diagnosed with a 6 view Flexion x-ray

A friend recently remarked that a few doses of Valium eradicated his vertigo. Here is a link discussing the effect of Valium-related medications on vertigo. Hope this helps!

Valium is the only med for vertigo. My vertigo was from the neck, C23 facet nerve. Had a nerve block and ablation and vertigo is gone!

My son just got diagnosed with semicircular dehiscence. An Inner ear canal issue. He has found limiting sodium, alcohol has helped tremendously on the vertigo symptoms
Semicircular Canal Dehiscence (SSCD), also called Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SCDS), is a condition caused by a hole or opening in the bone overlying the superior semicircular canal. The compromised bone allows endolymph in the superior semicircular canal to move in response to sound or pressure stimuli.

I found all of the responses helpful but some not so encouraging for resolution. I had an Acute (all of a sudden) onset of dizziness and vertigo after Lung valve surgery in November. Am being worked up by Neuro, ENT. The first ENT Dr. was very impatient and did not want to answer my questions. So tomorrow a new one! The C23 facet sound interesting as I also have cervical , C1 to T1, spondylosis. The attacks are miserable, can last 6- 12 minutes then unsteady and lightheaded the rest of the day. Occur with no rhyme of reason. I'm also afraid to drive so am a prisoner in my own home. very discouraging and depressing.
