How much Gabapentin do you take and how often? Does it help reduce pain? I read your body can build a tolerance and the dose needs to be constantly increased. Has this happened to you? I'm afraid to try it due to side effects I've read about and that it's addictive. Thank you!

Hi. I apologize for the delay in responding. My pain specialist has prescribed me 300 mg Gabapentin to take two 3x day. He indicates this should be my maximum dose. Sometimes, not often if the pain becomes intense, I beef it up with ibuprofen, usually 2 100 mg. tabs. It's not clear to me about a problem with tolerance because it hasn't happened to me. I do not have an addictive personality or any predisposition to addiction hence maybe that is why I have no problems with it. And I have been blessed to have no side effects. I hope this helps.

To my knowledge Gabapentin is not addictive but I could be incorrect about that. I've been taking it several years and no feeling of addiction ever occurred with me. I take 600 mg 3x day and only problem I've had is some memory confusion which was actually a relief to discover the Gabapentin caused it and it's not from beginning of dementia. And for me it is effective is reducing pain. My dosage has been adjusted up and down periodically as I need it.
