Pain after lobectomy (lung cancer) surgery: When will it go away?
Two months out from lower left lobectomy and just started to feel better when pain started again all around the incision area and upper part of back and spine area. Almost like a stinging sensation. I have read this could happen. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Mary, I’m glad to hear you’re doing so well. I choose 5 pounds of carrots with six celery stalks, one whole lemon and a slice of ginger. I’ve been doing this now for two years. I’ve never done the vitamin C infusion. I still have a lot of pain. I went to see the doctor, but he never recommended any painkiller for me. He said it’ll eventually go away, but I am going to try those lidocaine patches I’m going to start juicing only three days a week now I follow this man Chris Wark. he had stage three colon cancer and he cured his cancer by juicing and eating a plant-based diet which I also eat too. I had stage one lung cancer. I had my upper left lobe removed in case you want juice I use the Nama J2 Juicer it’s a fantastic juicer a little expensive, but it has a 15 year warranty. Anything happens they’ll send you a brand new one no charge. Please keep in touch with me Mary God bless.
Thanks for the information. I will look up your juicer and Chris Wark.
The pain does get better, but was about 5 months before I started to notice it dissipating.
Two years out for you that is really great!
Are you still doing scans?
My oncologist recommended a pain clinic if things got too uncomfortable. They will figure out where the pain is originating and treat it with various methods. Something to think about.
I did go see my surgeon. He doesn’t believe in painkillers. Are you still taking the gabapentin?
Mary it’s seven years since my lung cancer surgery crazy right and still in pain. Yes I’m still doing scans actually I’m doing one in April are you still doing scans?
Yes I am every 3 months right now, but will go to every 6 month soon.
That’s wonderful me too
I'm calling my doc on Monday because I had right lower lobectomy in January. Everything has healed nicely except by the larger incision by ribs under my right breast. It feels like something moving when I cough, blow my nose, strain having bowel movement, carry bags etc. Then it's sore & then mid back pain. I was thinking gallbladder, but also wondering if possible hernia there. I'd like to hear what you find out too. Has anyone developed a hernia by incision area?
I had thoracotomy on my right lung in 2000. It's been 24 years and i still have pain. The surgeons say it will go away in a year or so...don't believe them. I've learned to live with the pain. There is nothing I can do about it. I just wish they would be honest with us up front and tell us there will be pain for the rest of our lives.
