Hearing loss after COVID
I am 37 years old, had COVID and was basically asymptomatic except for partial hearing loss in one ear. I went to an ear doctor at Northwestern Medicine and was prescribed steroids but this is extremely upsetting, as I have no idea if I will recover or not. I am wondering if anyone else has heard of this or if there are other suggestions/advice out there.

Lots of mysteries here. We know that Covid can and did cause hearing loss in some cases, but that was infrequent. Other ailments can also cause hearing loss. Sometimes hearing loss just happens. I encourage you to look for solutions for the hearing loss you have rather than seeking a 'cure'. Hearing loss affects millions of people. Causes range from genetic to that caused by illness and noise exposure. The technology available today is so much better than it was even a decade ago. You owe it to yourself to learn all you can about what is available. When you have time, go to http://www.hearingloss.org and http://www.hhf.org for information and support.
Do you use hearing aids? How profound is your loss shown on an audiogram?
Hello, thanks for your response. My auditory screening were not that bad. I do know the fullness and the constant feeling of pressure and periodic pains have me most concerned. When people talk to me it seems very muffled and I am always saying I’m sorry I didn’t hear you or trying to read lips. Before I got sick I had never had any issues with my ears, as far as family no one in my family has had any issues or even hearing aids.
If alll it was was the hearing loss I could understand just now focusing on a solution for it. But the fact that they feel sore inside and sharp pain out of no where , weird swooshing repetitively in my left ear with every heart beat is concerning. My ct and mri both said this
1. Mild right-sided otomastoiditis. 2. Mild a left-sided mastoiditis
Are you being treated with antibiotics? I think that would be the treatment for your otomastoiditis and mastoiditis.
Hopefully that would clear it up.
I’m also dealing with ear issues and it is no picnic!
Good luck.
They have tried many different antibiotics and steroids.
I know how frustrating it is to get no answers!
I’m in the same boat.
Good luck to you.
Tonight just sitting watching tv and I can feel my left ear hurts and is swooshing with every heart beat , if I burp it hurts like an ear infection would. It is so annoying I just know something is wrong

Wondering if you ever got any resolution on your ear problems.
I finally had the balloon inflation procedure on my Eustachian tubes. Unfortunately it did not help, and in fact my ears are worse now than they were before.
Hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis and ear pressure continue for me. I hope you are doing better.
