Is anyone on a bisphosphonate and bioidentical/compounded hormones at the same time and getting positive results? Googled it and it appears this isn't a bad combo.

I have used bio hormones for 20 years. Now using the pellets to improve my dexa scores as the creams don’t offer as much delivery. My friend used pellets and turned her osteo to normal! I have hope!

I am so so sorry you are having side effects. Pellets are the bioidentical hormones that are inserted every four months under the skin in your hip. They have been around for many years but drug companies and many doctors poo poo their use. I just started the

Months to measure the levels. I was desperate not to start on synthetic meds as I had a bad reaction to actonel two years ago. Three months of hell never again. For more information you can goggle the Myrna brinn center for
integrative medicine at Jefferson hospital. My dr is Dr Anthony Bazzan MD. I have been goggling nonstop because my endro was me to do forteo. My dexa numbers are not extreme…the worst is 2.8 in hip but -1.9 in spine getting better with Pilates and weight lifting and walking. I am afraid to see the endro tomorrow but at 68 I am standing my ground for the next year and then if I am worse it is tynolos or forteo. The whole osteo journey is so difficult. This website is a gift to me. People have helped me with this decision. Good luck and keep in touch. I will pray your side effects are resolved soon💙

Your numbers aren't terrible, especially your spine. From what I've seen, it's unusual for the T-score for the hip to be worse, so that's really interesting. Dr. McCormick says that if your scores are better than -3.0 there's a good chance you can improve your BMD naturally. In an interview about OP meds during the bone health, he talked about which are the best for the hip vs the spine, and both Evenity and Prolia are far more effective on the hip than any of the others, though I'm definitely not advocating for taking OP meds, especially not Prolia. My scores are in the severe range for both the hip and the spine, so I'm on Evenity hoping to eventually get out of the hole and switching to more natural approaches. I've made an appointment at a women's health center to discuss HRTs, because my Endo, like yours seems to be anti-hormone replacement.

I am on Evenity and I started bioidentical hormones by a company called biote they are pellets they insert in your upper buttocks . I am 71 and feel great with putting back natural hormones into my body . My endocrinologist didn’t like it but read the latest research and I feel comfortable with it .

@kristie2 I'd love to know how you get along with your combined Evenity and HRT treatment. Who wouldn't want to "feel great" while improving BMD? I've searched for studies on OP med + HRTs, and haven't found anything. Are you aware of any info on this? Dr. Doug Lucas of Optimal Bone Health combines HRTs with natural treatments. I messaged him about combining with meds and he said he doesn't know if that would provide any benefit to BMD, but there isn't any contraindication that he's aware of either.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know I hate to be so jaded but I really think it has a lot to do about big Pharma and the money they make from these drugs. I have a lot of people in my family in the medical community and there are reps that come into the offices, pushing, pushing pushing, it’s really a sad state of affairs. I remember my internist wanted me to go on Prolia over 10 years ago and I wasn’t even that bad I had similar numbers to now it really gives you paused to think. There are a lot of YouTube videos on the hormone replacement therapy… As long as you don’t have hormone driven cancer in your history, you shouldn’t have a problem they do make you feel better all the way around even with mood. Good luck to you and keep in touch. People are really afraid of the subject of hormone replacement therapy at the bio, identical kind anyway.

If using HRT, the safest option seems to be a transdermal estradiol patch vs. pellets. The dose is easier to adjust if necessary. Dr Felice Gersh has been mentioned a few times here and I'll add my endorsement as well. She's been prescribing HRT for decades and is extremely knowledgeable. I have had two appointments with her that have been very beneficial. She does not recommend pellets, especially if you are going to use testosterone. She said so many of patients on testosterone pellets end up at male physiologic levels which can cause unpleasant side effects.

I hope the key to pellets is blood work every four months and keeping the levels low. I did the bio creams for 20 years with great success. I am hopeful with the new regime but I know there is controversy. I think as patients we have to be proactive and not to be afraid to question the doctors. Also use an MD with many years of experience. My doctor has 37 and assures me I won’t grow a beard..haha.

I have had my 2nd set of BHRT pellets . I feel great . I won’t know how much they have helped my bones at this time . Next bone scan isn’t until 2025 . I figured with my low number in my spine which is -4.6 It wouldn’t hurt to combine with Evenity . I truly believe for us women that the drop in estrogen is truly a contributing factor to our bone loss. All I know is that there is no negative consequences.
