Anyone Heard of Pirenzepine for Small Fiber Neuropathy?
I just read articles about a drug called Pirenzepine that is being studied to help heal nerve damage. It is being touted as a cure for small fiber neuropathy. I think it is still in the study phase, but is used for other things such as stomach ulcers.

How do I do that?
Welcome @lestes, Unfortunately I don't believe @happydaysareahead is still following this discussion. The last time the member posted was in 2021. You can find more information about the status of the Pirenzepine treatment on the WinSantor website - https://winsantor.com/expanded-access-policy/.
Have you been diagnosed with some type of neuropathy? Are you able to share a little more about your symptoms and any treatments you have tried?
It's actually not easy to do. Sorry for that misinformation. Winsantor is now entering phase 3 trials for their drug (final phase). Success looks really promising.
Here's some information they posted on a site called wefunder (small investor site). https://wefunder.com/winsantor. It looks like they plan on raising a lot of money this year and then production in 2025 or so. They're also opening compassionate use this year too if all goes to plan.
Also, here's a video they put together after one of their phases where they interviewed some study participants.
Thanks for the follow up @happydaysareahead and the helpful information!
Is this for only diabetic neuropathy?
The clinical trials are for diabetic neuropathy but I think there’s hope that the treatment will help with other types of neuropathy also.
I was encouraged to hear that one client reported lessening of Restless Leg symptoms. What a wonderful ray of hope!
I’m not taking it orally now. The dosage has to be pretty high according to Winsantor CEO. It didn’t work at 75 mg. That’s what I took for 4 months. If you google Topical Formulation for Pirenzepine, you will see the formulations Winsantor uses. It has their patent also. DMSO is one of the ingredients. Ethanol, propylene glycol, water, benzyl alcohol, glycerin, sodium edta, sodium citrate, citric acid, sodium chloride, sodium laureth sulfate, peg 400. The last two I just typed are called brijs20 and brij30.
Methocel is just a thickener.
It turns out DMSO is okay to use. If Winsantor is using it in their ingredients, it gets the green light from me.
