Trying to choose supplements carefully
I’m still working on getting a supplement regime going that makes sense. I’m wondering about algaecal - their website makes some pretty big claims. Anybody have verifiable results on algaecal?
Would anyone like to share what all you're taking, for what reason and did you see actual results?

@jasperina- I have used Algae Cal about a handful of years , along that time added the Strontium Boost, and last year discontinued that part of it. Continuing with Algae Cal but am looking to change that out as I find others to take its place potentially. And yesterday my thoughts were further verified.
Kim Millman, an absolute expert out of CA that has drilled down and for 15 years has a terrific track record . She has a program to figure out your root causes that includes much testing to tease out where the issues lie- gut biome, nutrients, blood sugar, hormone, etc. She stated again, which is now knowledge that’s out there everywhere , that states the Strontium is what makes your DEXA look better but is actually NOT. Strontium takes the place of the Calcium in your bones and is heavier so your DEXA scores are better , however your bone makeup is not!! Though these better values is what Algae Cal is hanging their hat on . She also did make the statement that she hasn’t seen Algae Cal itself make a difference in the bones. The ingredients in Algae Cal can be received through other supplements for sure. Feel free to look up Kim Millman.
Over the past year or two I’ve really upped my regime of sup use, but also went gluten free, also limiting dairy, sugar , and eating differently - more greens , veg, fruits -and bone markers have improved!!! And I do exercise for sure. Not sure what has made the difference , probably a combination of them all together. Good luck to you!!
Estrogen loss at menopause makes bone loss inevitable for most of us, I think. We are living longer and that is the downside!
I cannot eat dairy so do 800-1200 mg calcium (800 on Tymlos, 1200 on Evenity), B vitamins including folate, and on Tymlos I did 3,000 units of Vitamin D3 and 43mcg Vitamin k. I have reduced the D3 back to 2,000 units off Tymlos. I also take magnesium and get potassium from low sodium V-8.

I find the supplement issue to be too complicated for me,so I started taking the supplements that Dr. McCormick has on his website. Do they work? Who’s to say?
Curious about the basis of your decision to lower your Vit D3?
I read that Tymlos "eats" Vitamin D3 . Taking 3,000 units kept my level exactly the same for those two years. I noted it went up slightly when I finished. My level is in the 50's. I don't want it to go too high. So I am trying 2,000 units now that I am off Tymlos and will recheck to see if it went down or is stable. I may stick with 3,000 in the winter and 2,000 in the summer: we'll see!
Hi windyshores. I'm about to start Forteo. Do you know if Forteo "eats" Vit D like Tymlos? Also, did Tymlos affect your blood calcium, hence, the 800mg calcium?
My vitamin D level dropped to 21 after I started taking Tymlos. It took a dose of vitamin D 5,000 iu 3x/d to bring level to 52. Will continue taking this dose and recheck level in May.
@leeosteo sorry I don't know if Forteo needs more D3.
@ymv 52 is a good level....maybe you can stabilize with 3,000 units a day. You are taking a lot and it can get toxic if too high. Hope you can ask your doc!
@windyshores , appreciate the response and concern. My doctor told me to stay on this dose until level repeat in May
