@hunter70

I went for a recheck on my transplant checkup. I was told i need to have a LHC. I have nothing wrong with my heart. They just want to make sure my heart is strong for a transplant. I’m not on dialysis. So if I have the LHC they will put that contrast dye and my kidneys will go to sleep. No way am I having that done. I have worked so hard for 3 yrs. 4 months to stay off dialysis. No one going to put my kidney to sleep but me. So of course im off the transplant list until I go on dialysis. It sucks. They should have something for patient that are not on dialysis. Like a stress test or what ever beside LHC.

Hi @hunter70, I can understand why you're concerned. You've been taking care of your kidney and to stay as healthy as you can to be ready for kidney transplant. Being told you need to have a left heart catheterization, possibly with contrast dye is scary.

It sounds like you need answers to some important questions like:
- Can the LHC be done without the contrast dye?
- What are the risks for me and my kidneys to have an LHC?
- Are there other options to check my heart before transplant?

Hunter, are you on the transplantwaiting list or do you have a donor?
