Anal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Posted by zobesca @zobesca, Feb 22, 2023

Has anybody with squamous cell carcinoma on the inside of your body had it metastasize? I 'just started immunotherapy and wondering if anybody else has followed this path.

I had squamous cell anal cancer in 2003; however it only affected the skin surrounding the anus. I had biopsies after 5 weeks of radiation and 2, in hospital visits for chemo, I was declared cancer free. I have burn marks on both thighs from the radiatiob; but I'm alive. I saw my doctor every 6 months for apprx. 5 years for a biopsy, then every year until 2013 when I was diagnosed with warts which were removed. When I go out to eat, I take 2 immodiums an hour before which keeps me from having an accident and allows me to eat whatever I want. I was having colonoscopies every year for apprx. 5 years. My last colonoscopy which was performed in 2023 showed no cancer and my doctor said no more for 7 years. As long as as I don't overeat, I can avoid having an accident at home. Yes, it was twenty years ago, but I am still dealing with the results and trying new things. Good luck!!

I am 60 and just started carbo taxol last week. Dec 5 2023 diagnosed with poorly differentiated squamous cell with basaloid features. Pet and CT shows mediastinal nodes and bilateral pulmonary nodules. They biopsied one last week - so I’m now waiting. Chemo again mar 18 and apr 18 planned. Radiation planned as well. Most of the 3.5 cm mass was removed but margins were not clear. Kind of in limbo til biopsy results come in. Either Mets or new primary. Prayers for all here !

i am being treated for squamous cell anal cancer stage 3
so far it is a walk in the park compared to the pressure pain i had before treatment
i am doing proton radiation at the only cancer center that offers this type of radiation.
there are other proton centers, but none that will treat anal cancer with it.
it is the california proton center in san diego.
burns are not bad. i have 6 more treatments. i don't even take pain medicaion.
i know we are all different, and i did get loose bowls for a while due to chemo, but other than that i am doing great.
hope this helps with your decision. wish you luck

Hi @shellejo, I bet the waiting for the biopsy results has been really hard. Have you an update yet? How are you doing?

REPLY

Yes. It is Mets to the lung. Multiple nodules.

REPLY

They say it’s good it’s Mets and not a new primary. Meh.
