Tongue issues while on AI
A month into starting Aromasin, I had dry mouth for a week which progressed to feeling like I have a scalded tongue all the time. A couple of month later, tongue is feeling sensitive all the time and the sides are often irritated. I feel like my tongue has gotten slightly larger since start of endocrine treatment. Has anyone had these kinds of symptoms and can give some insight? Thank you!

Take a look at this article to see if it sounds like what you’re feeling. It is about Burning Mouth Syndrome BMS. Don’t be put off by the title that mentions perimenopause. What they are studying is hormone imbalance or low estrogen and BMS. AIs lower estrogen.

There is a section about how to treat BMS in the article. Maybe something there would be helpful to you until you get to the doctor. You won’t have the same treatment meds - but maybe something similar. A numbing gel intended for tooth pain may help - their suggestion is a lidocaine mouth wash. Chamomile tea - they suggest a chamomile gel because it coats the surface.
And anything that will increase saliva output - lemon drops usually do that but the lemon may be irritating to your mouth. Chewing gum also increases saliva, but it sounds like anything in your mouth causes irritation.
After a year on Herceptin, I developed "geographic tongue" (patches of dark red). I wonder if this is part of what you are experiencing (?). In addition, I get a lot of canker sores. Myrrh (the herb) helps to numb them, as well as salt water rinses. In any case, I do hope you get relief soon!
