Question: If I am taking 2 Alpha L Acid, 2 x 25 Pregabalin each morning and usually at least 1/2 Tramadol, would it be safe to take the Protocol 525 also? comments on Nerve Savior and B-12? Looking for relief!!

@bettyg81pain That really sounds like a question you should discuss with your doctor or a pharmacist. Is it safe needs to take in a lot of factors including your medical condition and history which your doctor is best qualified for the question. I take the Protocol 525 (now just called the Protocol because the number of supplement capsules changed to fewer). I did discuss them with my Mayo doctor who sent the list to a pharmacist and got an OK to use it.

Welcome @tinnman, I know you are not alone having bought into so many of those so called cures for neuropathy. If you haven't already seen the website, the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy has a lot of good information that might be helpful - https://www.foundationforpn.org/living-well/.

Can you share a little more about your neuropathy and symptoms? Have you found anything that has helped?

I have been trying Nerve Savior for nearly a month now and it has only gotten worse for me. I have a LOT of body itching now, and wild leg syndrome so I am now sleeping less and less and have increasing pain. I am going to request a refund and see what happens. I have been ripped off a few times trying to find that one cure and am also about ready to throw away the meds my doctors have me on. I am an 80 year old Vietnam Veteran and way past the 70,000 mile warranty. I was way up North in Vietnam by the DMZ back in 1968 ti 1970.
It seems like my body's auto immune system is completely gone now and getting worse by the day. My body also does not like exercise any longer which I really hate and miss. Have been using acupuncture, massage, and Chiro and nothing seems to really work, but I do feel good for a little while after a goot hand and foot massage. I think one is basically screwed once one is older and experiencing these symptoms. It is a longtime healthy body winding down to die in my opinion!! Semper Fi.

Hi Fred @fred101, I'm a Vietnam vet also but served on a destroyer that supported the troops in the DMZ back in 64-66. Sorry to hear you have peripheral neuropathy caused by Agent Orange. You are not alone when it comes to spending money on what you hope is the magic cure to make the pain go away. I don't have the pain but do have the numbness with my neuropathy and have spent my share of money on products that haven't helped provide any kind of relief.

Have you seen the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy website? They have a lot of good information that you might find helpful:

My medical cannabis had to be stopped as per mayo jacksonville protocols. My partner and colon cancer survivor also has major neuropathy issues, especially in extremities. She uses our home made ointment consisting of cannabis oil extract and coconut oil. This works for both of us, but I am prohibited from using it. This product comes from a regulated medical cannabis dispensary, not some weird vape store concoction. My medical cannabis doctor, who is a respected authority in the state of Florida on all matters medical cannabis, approves and encourages this form of relief. This ointment is NON psychoactive and only affects the areas treated. This is my experience, not I read about or heard about. Hth and good luck to you.

We advocates in Florida are pushing for VA and federal side laws to allow for full access to medical cannabis for all vets everywhere in the United States. This will provide another avenue for treatment. Hth

I have used this supplement for a month. I have had no reaction to it at all. I will not be ordering more. It does have benfotiamine in it, which I think does have an impact. I will just go back to taking the benfotiamine by itself.

I too took statins for cholesterol for over 15 years and have been dealing with neuropathy for 7 years. I agree with your theory. I got my doctor to switch my medication to Zetia and now Repatha. It is a new change so I don't know yet if neuropathy will improve.

Jump to this post

Carefully watch the Repatha. I had a reaction to Repatha after I took it for about two months. My neuropathy went from only in my feet to in my legs up to my knees. The neuropathy did not regress after I stopped taking it. It is actually a cholesterol reducing drug. I did report this to the food and drug agency. There were many other similar similar complaints about the drug.
