I had my first of 6 covid vaccines in 2021...my plts started trending up since then. started around 450, last one was 606 ..I feel like there is correlation with vaccine and thrombocythemia.

I never thought about it but my playlets have been increasing even with taking hydroxyurea. Conincidence maybe?

Maybe ask yr oncologist about this?

A 150 point platelet rise over three years sounds pretty normal for someone with ET, especially if you aren't on hydroxyurea or need your dose adjusted. I went from 600s to 800s from age 60 to 63. This was pre covid, so I know it wasn't the vaccine.

I was only on aspirin at the time, and once I hit 800, I went on HU.

It's the nature of ET for platelets to keep proliferating to higher and higher levels unless treated. Basically that's why it's classified as a cancer by WHO.

I had the same issue. My platelet count started at 400 and started rising after I had the covid shot. I also tested positive for RA after I had the vaccine. After seeing an RASpecialist and more tests which came back negative for RA, my platelets started rising, and have continued to do so. I tested positive for Et jak2 mutation. My last count was 601. I am only taking a low dose aspirin for now.
I am 78, and feeling good which is why I don’t want to go on any medication. I only had the first two shots, and will never have another one.
