That was one of the medications I got after my cataract surgery. I just looked up, here is excerpt - Moxifloxacin ophthalmic (for use in the eyes) is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye. So do you have infections in your eyes? or are drops being used "off-label?"?
Funny, I live in Ocala also, but had cataract surgery in Clearwater.
Had a lot of pain in left eye after surgery. Right eye great, no issues, very clear vision. Left eye has the wavy lines. Can't read unless I cover left eye. Getting worse over 7 months. Saw 4 docs- 2 from facility that did cataracts, 2 from different facility. All say it is macular pucker and not connected to cataract surgery. I don't understand that, since I did not have any waviness at all before surgery. so discouraged.
I live in Pasco County but had cataract surgery at St Luke’s in Tarpon Springs around 2009 with no issues. I do have a previous detached retina in one eye that developed macular edema which is being treated currently. I get semi regular injections to keep as much vision in that eye as possible. Luckily my other eye is 20/30 at this young age of 84.
From what I understand , cataract surgery may not directly cause a pucker but aggravate a pre existing one. It should be taken care of only because it could lead to a macular hole. Vitrectomy surgery is considered when the vision is getting worse so I would, after this length of time, speak to the doctors about your concern about potential vision loss in that eye. At the least it should be carefully and frequently monitored. Vitrectomy is a major surgical procedure so follow the Doctors’ advice and get, as you have done, several opinions and options and insist on regular frequent exams.
And that is about all I know on this subject which, believe me, I have read extensively about.
Thank you so much FL Mary, I really appreciate your reply.
I really wish the original doctor had warned me, assuming he saw an existing pucker (which, if it was there, was causing no vision issues. They did have me cleared by a retina specialist pre-surgery.
I will continue to be seen regularly. Hopefully Medicare will cover that. My current retina specialist has not mentioned injections, drops, etc- just surgery. He does not recommend that unless things get worse. At least I can handle distance vision OK.
Just got an eye patch so I can read with the good eye. But glasses don't sit right on it, so not useful. Will keep looking for options.
Good luck with your issues, and I really appreciate your response. 84 is the new 60! I am only 74, so that makes me 50, haha.

Same thing happened to me. I was told it was common after cataract surgery. Laser treatment helped only a little. Some time later I was having my regular eye test and when reading the chart everything was blurry and wavy in one eye. Diagnosed as an Epiretinal membrane. Possible solution is surgery but not always successful, I was advised not to do it by a retinal specialist. It seems to be getting worse, so of course I am worried. I read on the web that it can be a result of having cataract surgery, I have an appt. with the specialist in late June. I'll report back here afterwards if you are interested.
Thanks so much for your reply.
Guess we are in the minority. Everyone I had talked to before the cataract surgery was so positive about it. And for one of my eyes, it really was an amazing improvement.
I just ordered a second type of patch from Amazon, that goes over the glasses. Hoefully this will work better than the type I previously ordered- the pirate type patch, that didn't work well under my glasses. As Mary had pointed out, there are disposable patches that go directly over your eye. But since i have to read on and off all day, that could get expensive.
Please keep me posted on your progress, and I will do the same. Thank you.

The doctor said this will clear up the fogginess. It worked until it didn’t. I think it is time to try it again.

They make temporary eye patches to stick or slip over onto an eyeglass lens. You could probably make your own.

Thanks Mary, I am working on that idea. But i need to read so many times a day that it is rough. Will keep trying.
Thank you for your kindness and experience!
