Has anyone heard of Wellen Exercise for Osteoporosis & osteopenia?

Has anyone heard of Wellen? It's an exercise program for osteoporosis and osteopenia. I'm not sure what they do because there is no video to show an example.

I have osteopenia. Have declined hormone blocker for ILC breast cancer because 92% chance cancer will not come back after my lumpectomy per testing. I am Thin so at risk for osteoporosis. Do elyptical for 40 minutes a day and lift 5 pound weights for arms. Should I be doing anything else as far as exercising?

I do yoga, and I lift weights. I also do some cardio. I hear lately that weights are the best thing to do because when you build muscles, the muscles build your bones. Maybe you could add some squats and lunges for your hips and legs. Good luck!

I’ve been doing the Wellen program since November. I purchased at a discounted price of about $69. It is set up based on your own fitness level and moves progressively. Sessions are supposed to be done 3x per week. I am finding it good for me, as it is easy to commit to the 30 minutes each session. You use whatever equipment such as hand weights or elastic bands you may have at home plus a chair and mat. It combines gentle and safe tai chi, Pilates, balance and strength movements. You can share the workouts with a friend for free.

Thank you for that! They were giving 30% off for President's Day. I might try it. So are the classes taught by the PT's?

It’s not really a class. The program is designed by PTs. It’s a list of exercises for the day with a model demonstrating. There’s a two week free trial so sign up with that to see if you like it. Best to you.

I use and like it. It’s not hard so far (I’m on the 7th lesson), but I like the emphasis on form.

Great! Thank you. Is it 30 minutes a day. And if you don't mind how many times a week do they want you to do it?

Yes, it is 30 minutes per lesson.

They recommend 3x a week. I do it every other day and find it pleasant. It's something I look forward to doing. It's not rigorous (so far anyway) so I could actually do it daily, but I alternate it with exercises from the online onero program.

I have been doing Wellen since Dec. you can set how many times/week you want to do it & they send you an email telling you your next workout is waiting with a link to it. There’s bridges, planks, push-ups, overhead lifts, bicep curls, tai chi, etc. The trial is a good idea because the workouts are just about identical.
