I’m starting Enzalutamide and hormone injections. Any comment?
I have several friends w prostate cancer. They each got radiation and hormone injections. My cancer is too spread out I’ve been told for radiation to work. So I get Enzalutamide a chemo drug. Anybody else does this?

Hello.
Thanks for reaching out and you will find a great community here to help. Sharing a bit more about your situation will help the contributors add to this post. What is your overall health?, PSA history?, have you had surgery?, what imaging test showed the results mentioned?
ADT (Androgen deprivation therapy) is the go-to treatment for biochemical recurrence (prostate cancer that returns after surgery) and Enzalutamide is an androgen receptor signal inhibitor (it is not a form of chemotherapy) and is usually prescribed for patients that have been on ADT and the cancer has progressed from castrate-sensitive to castrate-resistant.
I am currently on ADT with Leuprolide and Abiraterone as I'm still castrate-sensitive, but Enzalutamide is next up when/if it is needed.
Please let me/us know if this is helpful and I'm sure more will help out
Keep the Faith
Medical Oncology for metastatic prostate cancer is a rapidly evolving specialty, with different medication protocols being used and developed both in clinical trials and experienced practices at Centers of Excellence (COEs).
If, God forbid, my G 9 PCa recurs a 2d time, I intend to consult with my txing physician at Johns Hopkins, and also seek a 2d and/or 3rd opinion from Oncologists at other COEs.
Best wishes for a successful treatment.
Would they not consider triplet treatment?
Dont mind me. I am just a layman trying to make some sense of the whole thing.
Yes. Helpful of course. I guess I need to work on terms and definitions. I am very new to all this. I showed up for my first radiation appointment and learned that was not happening, but I was getting a double hormone injection. That was around Feb 2nd. PET scan show the prostate cancer had spread too much for radiation. My original Doctor, an Urologist, had decided Enzalutamide would be best for me. I have a thirty day supply and will start next week. Dread. Donmc
You can trust Enzalutamide. It has worked twice for me. Had great response. Main side effects on my case: hot flashes and fatigue. My PSA dropped rapidly. Great drug. I pray you do well. My Gleason Score: 9. Mets to lymph nodes x 2. Keep the hope.
When pSA went up to 9.1 started Enz last year It worked for a year with PSA to 1.1 Then rose to 9.8 Enz stopped and I qualified for Radium 223 as mets only in bone spine
They got me on Radium 223 as my mets is just in the bones Second injection 27th Feel great No hair loss or other affects like chemo
Had to go through a year of Xtandi first to qualify as its $9k and injection
If it fails then chemo PSA did go up to 14 in last 6 months after Xtandi stopped working
On Zolodex and Xgeva needles every 3 months
