Miserable nerve pain

Posted by marilyncarkner @marilyncarkner, Feb 13 5:22am

No sleep because of undiagnosed nerve pain. Feeling miserable .. I have PMR which just flared a 3 mg and my Rheumy bumped me up to 10mg. My thoughts are either internal shingles(had the vaccine) or Brachial pruritis ..Taking 6 Benadryl pills each day .. there is no rash
I spent 2 weeks down south with lots of sunshine could be a trigger. I also apply Zostrax
Any ideas or info on pain control or thoughts on the connection to PMR?

The ointment is just another delivery option. I’ve included a picture of it. Feel better. Hope it works out.

I tried a compounded cream ordered by my podiatrist for pain, and it didn’t help as much as the Salon Pas patches sold OTC.

I use over the counter salon pas pain patches on my sore feet spots and they do help.
You get 60 patches for about $10.00 and I apply them on my foot areas that hurt me.
They last about 7-8 hrs, and they really help when I’m in so much pain I can’t walk.

Do the pain patches irritate the skin at all?

Yes and no, occas when I put a patch on the top of my foot it leaves a red rectangular spot where it was.
I usually need the patches on the side of my foot which covers the bottom and the top side of my foot, and I don’t get any irritation there.
When I was usui g the CBD ointment and the patch together, I definitely got an irritation, so my doc told me not to use both together, and I’ve been ok.

Is this a prescription ointment, or OTC?

what symptoms does the pain patch help re: the feet? And what is the name of the pain patch so I know what to look for. Feel better.

You can get 4% lidocaine patches at the drugstore and they are very good. I tried to get the prescription ones; my doctor even wrote a letter to insurance but they would not allow it for me either. Whatever they can get away with, they will.

I get terrible pins and needles in my feet, but mostly on both feet on the sides of my feet it hurts so bad I can’t walk on them.
I usually take the pain patches and wrap them along the side of both feet where they’re hurting me.
Name of pain patches Salon Pas, and they come in different sizes but I get smaller ones 2.83x1.81 in.
Salonpas pain relieving patches, 60 patches per box and cost is around $9.49 on Amazon
The box advertises it for stiff neck, sore shoulder, backache and joint pain, but this size patch works for the sides of my feet.
Hope they help you!

Frankly, anything that helps the pins and needles will be tremendously helpful. Thank you so much! I have salon pas in the roll on. I use it everywhere but my feet. I was Leary of using the roll on on feet because of the other ingredient (don’t recall name at the moment). I get it like that too. It is impossible to do anything when the pain happens. Most times now when it’s “active” I howl in pain. It’s bad for that to happen. Usually I can rock and keep it together. I get these electric shock like jolts to the bottoms. It’s unbearable. Feels like a pic hammered into foot. Unreal. If they help like you say, it may very well be the game changer I need. Thanks so much.

I have had miserable buttock pain since my diagnosis of PMR one year ago. I found an article on Periformis Syndrome that reflects exactly what this pain is like. I was told by Neurosurgeon that I have Spinal Stenosis and would need fusion surgery. I’m holding off on that since my husband is not well. So, nothing helps this pain so far. Two epidurals, PT, etc. and the only thing that alleviates the pain is complete rest. Not happening around here. Good luck with this!
