Trimix injection good or bad idea?
59 years old. prostatectomy just over 3 months ago. Take daily 5mg tadalafil or 100mg sildenafil before intercourse . Successful only 2 times without vac pump. I am considering Trimix injections just not sure when or if I should. I would appreciate some insight from men who have used and when they started. No other treatments for cancer needed. Presently cancer free. 0 psa 2 blood test so far. I am thankful for what I have just want the best I can achieve. Thank you for any shared experiences good or bad.

I have been using Trimix or Bimix for over 6 years. I was diagnosed at age 51, so it's been helpful for my marriage. I can't do a thing without it, but I only need 4 units out of a 100 on a 1 ml syringe. This low dosage has led to some longer than 4 hours occasions. I went to the ER twice, but it came down before I had any treatment. I tried Bimix, but things were not as firm as with Trimix. Anyway, it's the only thing that works for me and it works really well (sometimes too well!).
After RP for G9 2 years ago I was/am completely impotent. Used the medical vacuum devise with the rigs at the base of the penis but this was uncomfortable and just not feasible for me. Urologist prescribed Trimix. A little reluctant to put a needle in my Johnson but it was really essentially painless and easy. Within 5 minutes I had full erection similar to my younger days. Really surprised. I tried different dosages to find the right one for me. The erections last 2-3 hours which is one of the drawbacks. Advised to not use more than 3 times per week or on consecutive days.
For me, this is the answer as I cannot get a spontaneous erection even with the help or oral medication.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your experiences with Trimix. I was diagnosed with pure autonomic failure (PAF) in 2022 in my mid 50s and ED has become an issue. Sildenafil worked for a while but now it is completely ineffective even at higher doses, plus with my PAF it tanks my blood pressure which makes me feel like crap all day. I met with a urologist, received the scrip and was trained today. I'm hoping to try my first injex tomorrow on Valentine's Day. While I'm still quite anxious about sticking a needle "down there" you all have definitely eased my nerves a bit. Nevertheless, hoping for good results tomorrow.
Kcarmack99 good luck tomorrow. It may take some time of adjustment medication amount to find what works best for you. It was @ 4 times before I got it to the correct dosage. I also am using autoinjectII bought on Amazon. Just load it, and push button, it insert needle and injects automatically.

Hi Jason,
Have you injected it without the autoingector. I don't like the injector.

Completely impotent following RP for prostate cancer + radiation. The pump with base rings just didn't do it for me.
I used Trimix for the first time over a year ago. The tiny needle didn't hurt and the injection only takes a few seconds. Wow!. Within 5 minutes I had the firmest erection I have had since my younger days. As stated by others, the only drawback was it lasts 2-3 hours. Don't take any oral meds (Sildenafil) with it as this is what can cause the priapism (prolonged erection more than 4 hours requiring medical intervention). I am sure your urologist told you the dose to start with and over time you will figure out what is best for you.
Good luck!!
Yes started without the injector but I prefer the injector. I may change my mind in future but I am sticking with it for now.
I also use the trimix. I've done it somewhere around 130x now. I keep a chart listing batch, date, time, location of injection (I inject at 9,10,11, 1,2,3 o'clock and 2 or 3 fingers from the base), maximum hardness, length of erection to half life (half as hard as maximum) and satisfaction. Moving around and alternating sides lowers risk of scarring.) I hate needles but I've persevered. The chart helps me to adjust dosage. This means I can keep the half life 30-90 minutes, with 45-75 being the desired range. If I'm still hard at 90 minutes I take two sudafed (psuedoephedrine) and two more in another 30 minutes, also if needed. This eliminates the danger of priaprism and I keep the med on hand for this purpose. I've only needed that a few times, mainly at the beginning before I titrated the dose down from the initial MD guideline. (While cleanliness is important with any injected med, it keeps well in the refrigerator, but does gradually deteriorate about 20% in effectiveness over 6 months. The pharmacy says they can only "guarantee" cleanliness for one month, but at about $100 a vial, I enjoy spending < $20 a month rather than >$100.) I also located a local compounding pharmacy instead of using the mailorder pharmacy. They only compound it when I arrive to pick it up and provide a packet of ice for the ride home, and it's even slightly cheaper.
Regarding the injector, I haven't tried it. After 20-30 doses I was freaking myself out with the needle, even though I use a RestoreX device to hold the penis for injection. My primary care MD recommended two things: shake while injecting (it is a distraction and also variable insertion pressure) and practice on hot dogs. I never got around to practicing on the hot dogs. 100 doses later I'm doing okay, and the biggest problem with injections is that people get frustrated and quit.
Surgeons market penile implants, so most of the online "seminars" on injections are half seminar and half marketing. (The penile implants have an effective life of about 10 years and have their own side effect and complications profile.) I wish sildenafil or taladafil worked for me, and I still try them about once every six months to see. So far I don't tolerate it well and it doesn't work anyway. If you want links to videos I can look up a couple that might be helpful. There are also a couple books.
Thanks. As it turns out, the first dosage of 25 units did not work so we'll bump it another 10 and try again this weekend.
I believe I started at 15 and went up by 5. 33 is my sweet spot. Good luck
