My story

Posted by hollyhoho123 @hollyhoho123, Feb 14 2:51am

I have asthma and bronchiectasis...I also have a hiatel hernia and an esophagus that only works 11% motility...I had the gastric sleeve in 2012...they will not repair the hernia because my stomach is smaller than the ordinary stomach..and my general understanding the repair will fail...so, I get aspiration pneumonia...about 4 years ago I was diagnosed with igg, and I'm getting infusions ...those help a little... the solution at ths moment is the by pass ...my insurance done cover it its 19k....but there is another big problem...my doctor has referred to am Infectious Disease specialist because I lost a lot of resistance from taking so much antibiotics last year....I'm trying to stick to a healthy gerd diet...taking reflux medicine...because my pneumonia is caused by aspiration..the dr said If I lose some weight and the reflux don't go away she will refer to an esophagus specialist in New orleans ...its crazy..how I went from a very active persion...to cart little one..just venting

What are you doing to control GERD while sleeping? It's important to sleep between 30-45 degrees at night, which helps prevents aspiration.

Watching this presentation by Dr. Huitt on Medical Management of GERD was invaluable to me.

PS - this might not be the latest presentation but it will cover what you need to know
